Alarm System , ON Clearance now by Polaris

  • Wow, that was a long ago. I do remember mounting the main piece close to (inboard side) of the ECU. The sensor I put behind the radio but could reach up inside from the engine bay to retrieve it.

The early Slingshots you could reach in from the front of the firewall. Center just below the dash.

  • My alarm system is under the rear deck i tapped into the fuel pump which is also under the fin

Interesting - does the sling still try to start with ignition interrupted there or just stops the fuel achieving same thing? Sorry, not sure how all that works electrical wise. I did look at the interrupt that's designed to go on the key ignition section itself. Assuming these two wires I circled are the ignition interrupt. Did you splice in here? Thank you for the info, very helpful as I consider all options!!

...this ignition disable unit has two (2) wires that you splice in between one of the wires on the fuel pump plug , allowing it to shut it off, not allowing the slingshot to start if the alarm is activated..........

  • Got to say the guy "Nate" at Scorpio under Airtronix has been very helpful. Answered my questions last night to make sure the harness I was looking at was going to work. Answered more questions today when I called to try to add to my order and explained some of the pics I've been looking at haven't been updated with how the harness was updated. Got that square and then he even through in a Gen-1 harness that I was going to add to the order for free. The more I thought about it last night if I keep it up near the engine bay/radio then I could easily integrate it into the LED brows/blinkers - so going to try that!

The trouble with bucket seats is not everyone has the same size 'bucket'.

  • Without receiving this alarm system yet, I have a question where the SlingShot naturally draws people to it. Thus, to me, it would be absolutely ludicrous to have an alarm system that goes off just because somebody is enticed to get a closer look. Whenever we leave our SlingShot outside for an extended period of time we typically install the cockpit cover. So, my question of is there a way to set this alarm to warn only when somebody is deliberately gaining access to the passenger compartment?

......you can deactivate the perimeter sensor but will still have the MOTION sensor active, so people can walk near and see but if they bump it, sit in it or try to steal it , the siren will go off

  • This is a perfect example of an impulse buy, where in all of our years of vehicle ownership, we have yet to benefit having an alarm in any of our vehicles. So now since the alarm arrive a couple of hours ago, I am sitting here looking it over debating whether I really want to bother installing it? Coming to mind is where I have made so much fun of other folks when their alarm is accidentally/intentionally tripped. And, do I really want to carry this controller thingie everywhere I go now? Yea, I am shaking my head and poking fun at myself! :S

I thought about that too looking at it, especially since it wasn't plug n play so much for me. Those two times walking back out to the sling with the wife though from dinner and once at the casino and seeing folks getting in/out of the sling and taking pics. Pushing buttons etc... kinda pissed me off. Having a motorcycle for years and personally never "sitting" on someone's bike without permission - just didn't see what in peoples minds told them this was alright. That said, if someone looking at the sling I'm the first to say get in there lets take some pics of you behind the wheel for the instagram or offer to take them for a quick spin to check it out. Just not a fan of folks doing that on their own and why I think I'm installing it.

Although I am setting up that proxi sensor, most likely will just arm with vibration sensor to prevent constant alarm going off. Also planning on keeping power wire and ignition interrupt with the plug n play connection I do have so I can disable this thing if I have issues. It's going by radio for this reason although I loved the idea of the proxi sensor on that hub between the seats!

Hee hee, well maybe if I get really bored I just might go ahead and install it, leave the alarm turned off so it does not drain the battery, or otherwise becomes a nuisance, and throw the controller thingie in the glove box until we feel that there is a threatening situation, like maybe an overnight stay away from home with the SlingShot being left outside?

  • Well, that takes care of that!! I was going to install this alarm system today and was going through the instructions one more time when the light above my head clicked on. A requirement of this system is that you really need the remote, and the remote must be kept on a charger for maintenance, put on a charger daily, as recommended, or put on a charger at least weekly when on the road. Well, simply put, to hell with that!!!! I am not going to worry about taking the charger every time we go on a road trip and then remember to dig out that charger to plug in the remote. I can fully see the alarm going off some night, more than likely in some full motel parking lot, and not being able to shut the damn thing off because I forgot to charge the remote!

If somebody would still want this alarm, $80+shipping, in the mean time, up into the cupboard it goes!

  • Well, that takes care of that!! I realized just now that at least for us, this thing was a waste of even the $90 we got it for! Lesson learned and up into the cupboard it goes!

Yeah this was the major negative feedback I read on these. First, there is a slow drain on the main battery which I wasn't too concerned about as I keep mine on the tender. Second, was the remote battery life. I charged the remotes when I got them. After 4-5 days one of them did drop a bar but that wasn't being used at all. So I do see those remotes as something where I'll have one on the key ring and one on the charger ready to swap in when low. Or, I'll take it to batteries plus and put a real battery in those remotes - how old do we think this inventory is?

Polaris seems to have put these back to full price - so if you don't want it to collect dust in the cupboard it'd probably be easy to get what you got into it back out...

.....i agree , though the model alarm that i have from them doesnt come with a rechargeable remote, it does come with a key fob that must be near the vehicle to turn on and light up......it doesnt matter if my Guard Dawg key fob is near or not ... And we all know key fob batteries last a bike season at least if not more.....

...... yes i have had their early systems from scorpio, from when they first started out for my motorcycles, where i had to change the battery or either keep charging the remote controller with the tiny screen of a car or bike on it ............ but with their SCORPIO RIDE system i just have a key fob.... Heres a pic of my key fob , which might be used for other systems also

  • Sorry, it's been awhile but have a bit of an update on this alarm. You know how bad I don't want to do LED's when I chose to install the alarm over the LED in the box lol... Anyway, pretty simple install even on 18 with ride command. I have the connectors to wire in the LED brows if I wanted to, but really don't think I'm going to mess with that. Maybe it's where I mounted it too, instructions showed behind radio and then talking to some folks they installed up behind dash/under fuse box. I went that route and may move it as I have it vertical and shock sensor part is blah... perm sensor works, but needs adjusting and the hood just clears it when seated.
