Market trends for Polaris

    Interesting little article.

Polaris and other ATV (quad bikes) manufactures being driven from the Australian market because of a) lower demand, and the killing stroke, b) do-gooders in the legislature demanding newer, radically more expensive, safety equipment. Polaris claims that there is "no reliable evidence" that this stuff is even functional.

Yamaha & Honda are getting out of Australia, too... and so is GM. All GM plants & dealerships are going for good. Like the European Union, the average Aussie citizen is going to start getting all the government they can handle - and paying through the nose for it.

The real shame is, once they destroy their native production capacity, they will have a devil of a time convincing any manufacturer to come back down under.:(

Didn't mention what the "operator protection devices" OPD's, but basically they are requiring a rollbar type device that keeps the quad from crushing the rider in a rollover, here are some examples -

and this is the riding gear that will required in 2021 -

  • Anyone who runs tractors knows that a ROPS (roll over protection structure) is ONLY EFFECTIVE WHEN WEARING A SEAT BELT. If a roll over occurs without wearing the seatbelt the danger is increased significantly by the presence of the roll bar as it will likely be the part of the vehicle than pins and or crushes you.

I am a certified expert on rolling quads and I wouldn't even consider riding one of the quads pictured. The bubble wrap suit is pretty awesome though...
