Upon arrival home from Maggie Valley after a 2 day drive, I noticed my belt tension was extremely tight, it needed to be readjusted, it was fine before the trip. Could ratcheting down very hard the rear wheel have caused this?
Just curious, comments?

Anything is possible... If you exerted a hard pull with ratchet straps forward and aft on wheels... more than likely it was from the twisties and hard acceleration squats out of the turns. My drive belt shifted and tightened the first ride out on the Dragon... missed my second group ride to get belt adjusted.
If you want to attempt to adjust yourself...

I read this somewhere else....the reason for putting the slack in the belt is because the gears that drive the belt heat up and expand while driving and that makes the belt get tighter. It's not something wrong......
