Looks like a lot of fun. Wish we could have been there. Hey @MACAWS, Do I see Mary Popins in that Picture?
No sir she arrived later
Karaoke Night
Looks like your event has been a great success Mitch. Thanks for everything.Certainly Thurs nights meet&greet was really good.Sorry I could not stay for the rest but will certainly be back next year for the complete event.
Saturday in Chase City after a great ride to get there!! Kicking myself today for missing the boat ride - had the wrong time in my head. My punishment is doing laundry! This has been such a great time and a chance to meet more great people!
Ha Ha - my favorite line from the movie Risky Business - "I don't remember giving permission for a party Jim"
Believe it or not that did happen to me. I went up to the Smokies for a little ride and my son and about 200 of his friends had a party on Sat. night. Found out when I got home the highway in front of my house was just about blocked off there were so many cars parked on both sides of it. Needless to say there was a major conversation when I found out about it.
The last couple of weeks have been pretty rough. Boss died 2 weeks ago Friday, planned and executed his memorial this past Friday, and all the bullshit in between....needed to get away from all of that.
Well, @MACAWS and his amazing wife Collette certainly obliged. I couldnt be more amazed at the welcome they gave us when we rolled in late Friday night, including having a package set aside for us, AND a couple of nice little gifts for the kiddos. You guys throw an awesome party, and we hope to be back next year. Thank you again for your hospitality.
Maybe I'm just conditioned to expect less than the best from people in life. @sideseatdriver and I have repeatedly said to each other how phenomenal the family on this forum have been, and our first group event has certainly proven that, and showed that maybe I need to reconsider my conditioning and natural cynicism.
We sort of expected we would be on the periphery of the group, what with arriving late, and bringing two toddlers to an adult event, and not having our Sling with us...and aside from not going on the runs, we didn't feel that way at all. I can't even list all the folks we met who made us feel like we belonged there. It was awesome to finally be able to put faces to names, trade stories, learn more about the community and our machine... (and AS I WRITE THIS, my 3 yr old just brought out his toy drill and hacksaw and a bunch of other tools and is making modifications to his bike, in the driveway. And his 2 yr old sister is helping. OH MY GOD. I CAN'T DEAL.)
Thanks to my wife for giving permission, talking me into the trip, packing the car and the kids, and daring to go somewhere with the kids that we didn't know what we'd do with them.
Mitch, I don't think you know him personally, but the gentleman driving our pontoon boat, Mike, was as amazing as the rest of the group. He even let my son drive the boat. Way cool.
Oh, and a shout-out to @V-SHOT for winning the "Most mods in a weekend" award. Dude, you need to post the list. I lost count at a dozen.
P.S. WE GOT TO MEET ANITA! Such an awesome lady - thank you for the honor!
P.P.S. I have a different post to make in a bit to tell another story about what made the end of this weekend so great. More to follow...
The wife and I had an awesome time at the event special thank you to Macaws and all the people involved in planning it.
We meet some new friends sorry we couldn't make the breakfast and say good bye .
Got a lot of pictures as soon as the wife crops a few will try to post them.
Well with a little sadness I have to face the fact that the Slingshot Booze & Blues event is officially over. Our last meeting with a few diehard slingers was a BBQ at the Flying Pig Ranch. I wish all of you safe travels home.
An event is nothing without the people who attend it. I am so very grateful for all who took the time out of their busy schedules and traveled all the way here to be with us. You are more than friends you are family. It would not have been the success it was without all of you. Colette and I Thank each and every one of you!
OK mushy stuff over no for some official numbers!
Maximum number of Slingshots in one location 38 - Saturday Morning at the Magnuson Hotel
Maximum number of Slingshots on a given run 32 for the Moonshine Run
Greatest distance traveled to attend @adventure4me
Entertainer of the year award @ethermion - new handle "ELVIS"
Most mods in a given session @V-SHOT
Most fun destination Cowboy Ups - in Virgilina - yes Virgilna is a real city.
Again I can not thank you all enough for making this a tremendous success.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post pictures I was so busy I hardly had a chance to take any!
Mitch
We had an awesome three hour boat ride, many thanks to the volunteers for taking us.
Oh and one again, Colette and Mitch came through with yet another event this evening, a barbeque at their place, inviting @adventure4me, @Jdin, @Nemesis1701.
@MACAWS y'all knocked it outta the ballpark again!
@rabtech you missed it again!
Thanks to all involved in the event. Great time.
Back home now. Dry drive home. Cold cloudy start then fog.
Then sunshine half way home.
Home from vacation.
1165 miles this week and weekend.
26.4 mpg. Not bad since i was going 80 to 85 the whole way home. Was really surprised by this pickup who thru some tight turns on the back roads kept up with the sling. Was double the posted speed on curves.
Straight home. No rain. Great weather after i crossed out of Virginia.
Mitch, sorry that I had to cancel out of joining all of you. Congrats, looks like it was a very successful event. Maybe next year if all goes well and you can have the event again.

Boat ride at the lake......superb attention to detail!
