Found the old size at 1 5/8" ..... what is the correct socket size for the new double nut design? Marked them the day I picked up the new SS. Already moved about an 1/8" so need to tighten and lock with 290.
@bigdew thanks... figured it was. Had the 1 5/8" from the last SS... @NatomasSlingshot1 I read somewhere that the 290 can be applied after tightening. It weeps into the threads an locks it. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Want to make sure I do it correctly. Funny thing is my old one never made a noise and the nut never ever moved in over 7000miles
I know they are moving and that would require tightening. But don't over tighten them. I hear that constant tightening causes that metal part behind the nut to compress and cause bearing wear.
I know yall already had heard that in depth but I just wanted to remind everyone that had not heard that info before. I have never put a wrench on my axle nut before. (Probably the only part I have never taken off)
My original single nut was just removed and replaced with the double yesterday. My rear bearing and two of my ball joints were replaced under warrantee as well.
