Has anyone had any issues either installing the Stealth Fender from Paramount Plastics or with it vibrating after installation? After watching the install video it appears that the method for securing the fender to the rear by utilizing a brace zip tied to the gas tank bracket is a really bad way to hold the fender in place. I bought the fender but am now considering sending it back and buying the one from Assault that attaches to the rear shock mounts. Any ideas from those who may have installed either fender>>

@SamOwens has one

I have it. No problems with major vibration. There is some at 80 + but that just makes it difficult to get a clear picture of the plate number.

I had no problems at all, I had mine even painted. For me it is the best fender

I haven't had any issues with the stealth fender. Checked all the fasteners after 100 miles then again at 1000, all still tight. I haven't noticed any vibration. Love it.

I have one too. Don't be worried about the zip ties. I think the fender would fail before they do. And I don't see that happening unless it's hit.

I have new wheels and tires ordered, Will the Stealth fender fit 305/45/R20 ?
-
I don't think the tire will fit. Mine rubbed the side of the stock tire with two people when it was just a little off center. The 305 is two inches wider than stock according to this site 255/35-R20 vs 305/45-R20 Tire Comparison - Tire Size Calculator | Tacoma World.
I found a negative about the fender last week. I hit a dip in the road and bottomed out. The tire grabbed the license plate and rolled it up under the fender. Made a hell of a racket.

I had the same issue with mine when I first put it on. Had discussions with irishdesigns (w Paramont) on the old forum. Mine was the first or second one installed. They sent me a plastic spacer and it bent again after a hard hit in a dip. I pulled off the spacer and sanded it at an angle and the problem was mostly solved. I went into a hard turn and dip going to Maggie Valley and it bent again. Bill Hahn installed my QA-1s the morning after I arrived and it hasn't happened since no matter how hard I drive.
Just need a spacer about 1/8" tapering to 1/4". You could use thicker if you want. Just give the plate a slight angle out at the bottom. -
Thanks! I'll make the changes tomorrow.

Can you just leave the late in the stock location?

Using a 305/45/20 is not the way to go. A 305/30/20 is more in line height wise and overall speedometer reading to the stock height, yet giving you the wider tread on the road. Being a shorter tire than the 45 series, it may not have hit the fender and/or bent the tag. JMHO

That can be done, but it doesn't look good. A couple spacers to change the angle of the plate is more ideal IMO.

Mine is a stock tire. This photo shows how the tire can hit the plate if it isn't angled out.

Yeah, that's my fender before I fixed the plate issue. I had just installed it and pulled it out of the garage to get a pic. Paramont sent me a long plastic spacer, still bent. I sanded the spacer down to ankle the plate out. Worked. Then I replaced the spacer with two 3/8" nylon washers that I sanded down to 1/8" on one side. I am much more satisfied with this but the QA-1s solved the issue. Never bottoms out now!

This is mine with the plastic spacer from Paramount, I think I would have to load an elephant on top before it hits.
