Started today getting some of the parts disassembled.

Doubt I balance it all. I am going to change the rods to Carrillo, and pistons to Wiseco and have them also supply the rings, Heavier valve springs, wrist pins, bearings, all new ARP bolts throughout. And I am doing some mild head work. Pretty much all I'm leaving alone is the main bearings.
Cams may stay the same. I need to figure out if I want to see 8000 RPM or not.

Need to spend some money to buy a heavy duty clutch also. Mine slipped on me at 12 psi. Can't imagine what it will do with a 3 bar map and 18psi....
-
How about the rear end and drive shaft? Any concerns there?
-
Nope. The rear tire is the buffer point.

Pictures are very good of the breakdown! Build should work perrrfect!

I'm big on the looks of an engine. I have a ways to go getting this one cleaned and certain parts painted. It's should look as good as I hope it runs.

This engine had 68,000 miles on it. I got to see the Solstice it came from. It got a V8 upgrade....

I am thinking of a similar build. Not a 3 bar but 2 bar. Is the 2.4 LE5 a direct swap for our 2.2? Can we use the same engine harness, transmission etc? I am just now getting into my research.
Which cars would be the best to look for? 06 07 cobalt etc?

The Slingshot engine is a 2.4 LE9

A few months ago I talked to Jason at Spec Clutch and was told they are planning to do a clutch for the Slingshot. I'll reach out to him and let you know the progress. They offer different stages so that you can pick the type of driving you are doing. Everything from street to autocross to full race. Usually 7 different options.
I'll let you know what I find out. -
Probably stage 4. From what I have read it's kinda the best spot for holding the power and durability.
I think DDM has a solution. I will let him weight in on it. Maybe he can reply here in this thread.

had to adjust my thread title.

Stage 4 is nice, but FYI, it's VERY touchy. It also can be very jerky on low rpm starts. The 3+ has a very similar grip, but is much easier to engage smoothly. Hope that helps.
