Reverse Gear Grind.... :(

  • We've all done it Hun... Here's my "hold my beer, watch this moment" to make you feel a little more at ease.

I ground the crap out of my reverse gear while trying to get the SS off a large center divider I ran up (lol, that was BEFORE I learned how to drift correctly). Needless to say, the transmission can take a beating (the chassis, not so much)... sure it's never good to do, but you get quite a few mulligans with the transmission on the sling.

Since then, I have installed a high-pro clutch and shorty shifter... and my sling purrrrrrrs like a kitten a year later!

  • I actually end up releasing the clutch, little by little and then it fully shifts into reverse... It's a controlled, methodical movement to prevent the grinding (after it happened once when I wasn't fully engaged in reverse)...
