    Agreed salon.com is a worthless rag that nobody we know prolly reads. David Masciotra calls himself author and “cultural critic”. As you can see above he wrote a book about Obama. I’m sure it sold at least twice as many books as he did get positive reviews above. This was posted in my SmartNews app which draws from liberal & conservative sources. We know it is BS but riddle me this?How many of your students would read that and believe it to be fact? How many dumb voters read things like that and are influenced. Journalistic integrity has died a brutally gory death IMO and was the point I was trying to illustrate.

    If it is a few bad apple Democrats that you and others despise/HATE, why then are those individuals not called out in each instance. It is usually, "The Left, Democrats, Liberals, them, Sheep, Snowflakes, California(as a whole), New York(as a whole), Chicago(as a whole), Libtards...need to die, fall off the earth, go away, kill themselves, are ruining America, going after our guns, seeking socialism, are communists, are socialists..."?


    Many people confuse journalists and pundits.


    For example: The New York Times has opinion articles and news articles.


    It is funny/dangerous when people complain about "the lying media" then site an opinion article. It is also funny/dangerous when they call out a group or individual as evil and site an opinion source as fact. Too many people now days parrot pundits that support their side, not realizing they are usually regurgitating opinion that at best is half right.


    Take the recent New York Times report about Trumps taxes. "Trump paid $0 federal tax for 10 of the last 15 years and only $750 in 2016 and 2017". Trump says it is "totally fake news, made up". Which at this point it could be, since The Times hasn't really shown it's sources and proof. With this story I would caution those that are all in on believing the story to wait for more info before calling it fact. I would also caution those that want to jump on the "fake news, made up liberal media" side, that The Times first reported on Trumps college scam that he was forced, by law, to close. The Times first reported about Trump using his charity as a way to enrich only himself. He was forced by law to close his charity and is banned from ever opening another charity.

It is important to note, we have not verified the report". Then they go on for hours about the implications...


    That is the problem with most media now days, regardless of it's political leanings. It isn't that they lie. They may misreport, put in a disclaimer("as reported by"). Then if the story is debunked they are silent rather than clear the air, because their disclaimer clears them from being legally bound to make a corrective statement.

    BLAH BLAH BLAH !!! Carlson, Hannity, Ingram are all opinion shows and admit it. Bret Baier & Harris Faulkner are news anchors. Explain Don Lemon, Chris Cuomo and Anderson Cooper - none of which claim to be opinion shows but are “hard.nosed reporters”. And SO WHAT if Trump didn’t pay any taxes!’ If he stayed within the law and paid zero taxes more power to him - if you don’t like it change the laws. Do you send in any extra with your tax payment?? If not how unAmerican!! As far as the Trump charity - How bout checking out the facts of the case - NOT Don Lemon or the Times.

    I agree with that and in addition to that they try to influence thought and not just report. EXample... it use to be if there was an accident they would say, there was an accident on highway... and 2 people were killed... Now they report it as there was a horrific accident and AT LEAST 2 people were killed... then the reporter or the person in the studio adds their personal thought to that report.

    This is the problem with our system... one is thought to be either left or right... Democrat/Republican and the person that is from either side can expect to get about 50% of the vote just for being on that side.


    Trump is not a great president, and Biden would not be a great president... but being on a side seems to make one defend that side even if they think their guy is not the best we could do.


    Why don't we demand better of each other and get rid of these stupid parties, left/right and actually have people who are considered on their merits and not just because they are one side or the other. Maybe if we had someone who actually wants to make America better for all of the people in this country that is what we should be demanding. I always hear, Make your vote count.... and it is followed by some type of thought... well he is not great, but he is not as bad as the other guy...


    Trump has done some things that I consider good and he has done a bunch of stuff that is just like, Hold my beer watch this, type stuff... Biden has been around the block for all of his life and all of the sudden is going to make stuff better for us? What has he been doing all these years? Neither of these two choices DESERVE my vote. I could keep going on... but what is the actual use... No one listens and will just keep on with the same old shit.


    On an ending note... has anyone noticed how neither the media or any of the old talking heads are saying anything about a stimulus...Just a couple of weeks ago it dominated the thoughts of everyone... and now isn't even mentioned. If anyone doesn't think that the media and the politician (on both sides) want nothing more than to control our thoughts.... Hey, go have a beer and a shot and watch some re-runs..

    Very good points all !! At this point it comes down to who you think is going to do LESS damage going forward. Trump has had 4 years now and is the dog we know and know what your gonna get. Biden has been dragged so far left and it’s obvious he doesn’t have the mental acuity to fight off AOC - Bernie - Warren or even worse Harris who could become President. Biden is the dog with fleas that we really have no idea what he will do (he doesn’t either) !! Sad that out of all the brilliant people in the US many are left voting and holding their nose for these 2 candidates!
