Slingshot Fuel Line Recall - something else to help

  • There are several recalls going on right now, and we have started to have some of the Slingshots come into our location with the fixes for some of the issues. One of those fixes is for the fuel line, which as delivered from Polaris can rub on the underside of the hood and eventually wear through and cause fuel to spray in the engine bay, which is obviously not good.

The new fuel lines that Polaris is installing as the fix for the rubbing seem to be just a little shorter than the original lines and have a braided covering on them to help with the wear and abrasion. Those new lines should work pretty well and hopefully not be a problem down the road. Here is the comparison between the lines -

However, on the Solstice and Sky 2.4L those fuel rails have the supply coming off the side, instead of the top like the Slingshot fuel rail. We have some of the Solstice rails here and decided to try it out on the Slingshot . The Solstice rail bolts right up to the Slingshot engine and moves the fuel line a lot lower and completely away from the hood as you can see here -

So for those that might want to get that fuel line completely away from the hood, you might want to look at swapping your fuel rail for the Solstice/Sky stock rail. The GM part number is - 12590984, AC Delco part number #2172430. They run about $50 on Ebay or $75 from most dealers. We have a limited amount of these here that we are selling for $29 plus shipping - Slingshot Side feed stock GM Fuel Rail

Also, there are 2 different versions of the stock Solstice/Sky rails. The earlier version has an accumulator on the end (found on the 2006-2007 models) and the other version just goes straight into the rail (found on the 2008+ models). Both versions work fine, we never saw an issue with either one.
