Changed angle drive fluid with 2500 miles (dealer also changed at 500 when replacing seal). Found what feels like silicone caulk or maybe gasket material in drive fluid. Feels rubbery and breaks apart in your fingernails. Not sure what to think of this? Also thinking the dealer didn't change fluid at 500 either.

Changed angle drive fluid with 2500 miles (dealer also changed at 500 when replacing seal). Found what feels like silicone caulk or maybe gasket material in drive fluid. Feels rubbery and breaks apart in your fingernails. Not sure what to think of this? Also thinking the dealer didn't change fluid at 500 either.
Best guess is that the gasket was either misaligned on install, or over-compressed, and it stuck too far into the casing and got shredded by moving pieces. Haven't seen that on these drives, but I had exactly the same thing happen in a steam turbine component in one of the enginerooms on USS ENTERPRISE. What a G-D mess.
