They just started here in NJ a few yrs ago...When I fill the Slingshot and the Vanderhall I point the nozzle to center of vehicles
and little stress with hose but gas seems to flow better doing that..

And all of them have slightly different pump nozzles.
I can see that being the case. There are legal standards for the nozzle though.
(1) The outside diameter of the terminal end shall not be greater than 0.840 inches (2.134 centimeters). (2) The terminal end shall have a straight section of at least 2.5 inches (6.34 centimeters).
