Got my Dragon pics back today. Luckily no red paint from @FunCycle breathing down my neck.
Looking good. I am glad you came along for the ride to SSITS, you should have stayed for the rest of the week

That is why I rub on it so much, it has to stay sharp
I would have liked to go thru the rejects
A big thanks goes out to @av8ingtom for allowing myself and @Twisted affliction an opportunity to show our women what it feels like to be in the passenger seat of a bad azz supersharged sling. Kim will not soon forget the memory !
Have you talked her into the Super Charger yet?
Folks: Just a friendly message to notify you that I changed my user name from "CRUSHER" to "Miller Time" since my last name is Miller. My nickname was Crusher when I was playing softball. I am sorry for any inconvenience this will cause but hopefully it should be minimal.
I like that and I hope I can remember @Miller Time
People tend to make things over complicated, I used the SS Allen head bolts from ACE about $0.45 each coated them with VHT Black wrinkle paint and done.
I looked on amazon and ebay for power coated bolts and prices were outrageous SS bolts were about $ 1.50-2 a piece, Titanium were $4-20.
Just polish the stainless, the hell with the powder coat
Just thought I would post a pic of some friends I brought back with us from the mountains...
Sooooo, if I don't post on the Forum for a couple of days...I have an excuse!!!!!!
I think everyone will understand
Thanks @scootertrash and @Ruptured Duck , @Ruptured Duck is that the stock blade WS?
That looks to be what it is. Look at the center bracket and the heigth
Yeah making an automatic would in my opinion increase sales. Everyone can't drive and don't want a stick shift. I know my wife would probably want to trade the can am in on one if they are automatic.
Sent from my iPhone using Polaris Slingshot Forum mobile app
There was an automatic at the Alpha tent at the SSITS17
Purchased the SLingshot expecting to have it until the wheels fell off but life happens .....
I never buy toys for resale (or finance them) so just passing along experience just in case anyone cares
.
Yep, we think just alike, but so many others do think about the resale first.
Not really concerned about resale as I tend to keep my vehicles until they're no longer economical to maintain or I have a catastrophic failure I can't afford to fix. Of course, since we're talking about a Polaris-engineered product, I am concerned with the Poalris' angle-drive and rear-axle designs.
Resale price is never a consideration on anything that I buy. If that is the point do not buy anything and then you do not have to worry about using or driving. that is my 2 cent advise
Nope you were in front of me at warp speed
I thought I was going to get in another high speed run here at home BANK ROBBERY I got there at the same time as the law. I just got back to the house. Nope, I did not see the robber he left the bank on foot or a bicycle and I circled the area a couple of times.
@Ruptured Duck you knocked it out of the park, Congrats.
Display MoreFirst let me give a shout out to @gpcustoms for getting our ride to Memphis started with his Lap of America ride and raising over $8,000 for St. Judes! I have been blessed to live about 10 minutes away from Mark....what an amazing person!
@StickerDick and Ninja Susi for letting me crash at the condo for a few days and Susi for all the dinners that you cooked!
@Painter for all that you have given back to the S.S. comunity and for donating the valve cover to be auctioned off.
@Turbosling Thanks for the sway bar and always being there to help with any questions I have, even though I do not have your turbo system on my S.S.
@KayTwo and @sideseatdriver Thanks for breakfast...Really did not expect you guys to pick up the tab! Also, I can now say that I have gotten to try the famous "cran rasin cookies"!
@FunCycle Thanks for the GoPro. I think I have some vids of you waaaayyyyy ahead of the group!
@Shatneyman Thank you for the maple syrup. I am happy that we finally got to meet.
@rabtech and @allison not really one thing I can thank you guys for....The list is way too long to type.
@funinthesun Thanks for the ride back to Florida. Always better to travel in a group. Thanks for always being a call away when I need to bitch about something!
@Ruptured Duck Thanks for the deal on the top. Like I have said before.. I HATE TOPS ON SLINGSHOTS!!! You really nailed it with the top! I am proud to say that I have one on my S.S.
@DKF Texas Thanks for helping with the event. You were all over that Alpha tent! Thanks for not only helping with that, but for all the work you do with the kids at The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.... You and Mark Brown have touched soo many lives!
@Joker Thank you for the shirts and thank you to your wife for the key lime pie!
Thank you to the Waynesville Sheriff for not "Snatching my ass up out of my Slingshot, writing me an infraction, haulling my ass off to jail and impounding this piece of shit." Sorry for sliding sideways through multiple lanes of traffic....if people around there would learn to drive!
Last I would like to thank God for not only watching over everyone at SSITS but for also watching over my daughter. She somehow managed to flip her car over on it's side Saturday. She walked away without a scratch. That was a scary phone call to get when I am 4 states away and can't really do anything about it at the moment.
Thanks @kenny_h, I will see you in a few weeks. Oh! and thanks for the rotors
Display MoreAs far as the need for repacking the WELTER WP Dual - there are several systems with 15000+ miles and they're still withstanding the elements. The reason being we use a reflection muffler which only has steel and it up towards the engine were the hottest temperature and flames Are. The packing is merely used to mellow out some harsh frequencies and The placement towards the rear of the exhaust system is several hundred degrees cooler in temperature in the presence of flames are much less therefore it last over time better.
Much better!!
Now Baffles - most everybody uses baffles the wrong way to quieten their exhaust system down. The easiest fix in the world is to make the exit too small which kills the horsepower but Will definitely make it quieter. Even Polaris with the stock exhaust has done just that .
The baffles supplied in our exhaust systems added together will flow as much air as the main trunk of the pipe itself therefore there is no reduction in exhaust flow. What the purpose is is if they make the muffler work as in do it's job kind of like a tail pipe does.
@FunCycle The newer systems sound better than last years with the Hotbodies cans. Much quieter also.
The stock can is just a lower growl. I love my Welter Duals and the way they sound, just so everyone understands. Maybe some misunderstood what I was trying to say.
Will you be in Maggie? hope to find a group of mutants to hang out with on the decompression end of my drive
Yes, I will be in Maggie all week arriving on Monday around noon.
Ya all can laugh at me cuz I left my camera home
So I bought a picture from one of those dragon lurkers - this is on the Skyway
You must have got away from me somewhere?
A total of 19 hours to make it home, but it was worth it. Way too short, it was either ride, or hang out with people. Sorry gang, I chose to ride I have never pushed my sling so hard, totally unreal. It went to the speed limit quick. That's my story and I'm sticken to it. Just wish I spent more time with members. I have no pics with you guys but I'll never forget this trip. Stay safe
It is kind of hard to spend time riding and meeting and talking to the SS WORLD of people. I enjoyed every minute of the week people, I could do it again next week. My thanks to everyone that made it happen and to everyone that I got to meet during the week. For those that I did not meet, maybe next time. In the mean time RIDE SAFE AND WATCH OUT FOR THE OTHER DRIVER
Should be fixed
Good video and he remember every bit of it for the rest of his life. Spend all the time that you can with him, he will be out and gone before you know it. To add to this, I spent all of my off time with my two boys and raised them because my dad never spent any time with me not even hunting and fishing that he did all of the time. I will never forget that.
I watched the UPS driver throw my box on the floor of his truck...my brand new surface pro laptop was in that box on the bottom....lucky for me the hard drive is electronic and not a spinning disc kind...
I take pictures of all my damaged boxes.... Before I open them...ideally you should meet the delivery guy and point out any box damage....these guys are under so much pressure to make fast delivers and the companies don't care because they have insurance....so your stuff gets treated like garbage.
Yep! You should see them load a truck with our packages.
Frankly I am perfectly happy with the sound of the OEM exhaust. If / when I change it out it will be primarily to improve performance and reduce heat. Looking at it this two brothers system looks like it would get much better air circulation around it which might reduce the heat in the passenger area. Having only owned my SL for less three months I am not going to run out and buy any mods until I have really had some time with the thing and also had time to really look at all options with input from the great people here who have gone before me.
Last thing I want to do is buy some mod only to replace it a short time later
For me the best sounding exhaust is the stock muffler with the cat delete pipe and besides that you get more gas mileage and some horse power. I have the Welter duals now but still like the stock can better with the cat delete
