My passion is photography but with the recent purchase of my SS I figured I'd learn a bit of video and editing, so that I could share some of the experiences that comes with owning one of these things. I'm hoping to cover maintenance, mods and hopefully a good bit of my creative side when creating videos.

It took quite a while to learn how to put this :42 second intro clip together. Both Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro were used to edit this.

Thanks for that comment. I am so Glad I was able to help you with my video. For the Grease Needle Nozzle issue, I had someone else that commented on my youtube Channel that had issues with the needle and I am thinking he may have purchased the wrong Needle also. I got mine from AutoZone and it has a black tip. Here is what I use for greasing my U-Joint and hope it will help. Good Luck

@highiso, this is the grease tip I ordered from Amazon.

    Thank you both!

Thanks Sam! I actually started watching your fantastic vids before i even purchased my SS. By the time I got it, I knew how to change the oil and grease the ujoint myself! Also, cup holders are already insulated as well. One problem I ran into was purchasing the wrong grease needle, I need to research the correct one and order asap.

Sounds like you had quite the business! The steering light came on. Slinglow was correct, key was in the on position too long before starting.

Left the key on too long without starting. Just a guess. Kills the power steering.

    Bingo! Thank you!

I do just about every type of photography on the side but I've been so busy driving my new toy for the past few weeks I haven't had time to take any pics until this week. I have lots of ideas and concepts I hope to share in the near future.

On another note... I had a power steering error tonight, the light came on and I lost power. Had to restart it and now it seems fine. Anyone else experience this issue?

I stopped into the dealership this weekend to get the warranty transferred in my name and I was commenting on the rear angle drive noise. He actually said it was more important that the 500 mile break-in oil change which I just did last week on my recently purchased 2017 S. Yes, I actually bought a 2017 with only 300 miles on it.

Anyone else ever hear a dealer suggest this?

My first mod this weekend... painted the grill metallic silver. :)

You need to go and eat boy, your ribs are showing :00008356: Great deal on a not even taken for a ride sling. 300 miles is a half days ride for some members here. Your going to enjoy the new ride

I'll have a 1,000 on it before the week is over!

Nice score! Finally time to do that break in oil change. Now if only there was some info available here, on the forum about oil and filters... ^^

Ordered filter, oil and tools for the oil change before I even picked it up. :D

Congratulations @highiso and welcome to the wonderful world of the SS moneypit

    :D

    pictures or it didn't happen!

Traveled a total of 6 hours to bring this showroom condition 2017 SS base model home. It had 301 miles on it when I picked it up and 464 when I pulled into the driveway, it was never driven. It was a steal and couldn't be passed up, no regrets! I hit a storm in the last hour on the way home; surprisingly I was almost completely dry when I arrived.

The kenda logo in the center of the back tire was still visible after a full day of spinning it yesterday. Doing its first oil change this weekend.

Thank you all for your help with the questions I had when trying to make a decision on this. I'll be sure to post any mods I do.

Thank you for all the feedback. I’ve found dealers aren’t willing to come off the MSRP very far. Where is a good outlet to look for used Slingshots? Thanks

Found mine on cycletrader. I only got the deal because the seller was extremely motivated to sell. Everything I've seen from 2015-2017 are still holding there value. I just got lucky.

In a few more weeks they will
Be giving the old 2018 stock away

Maybe. I can tell you that over the past two weeks many dealers are NOT dealing on the 2018 base model. The best price I was quoted for the 2018 base model was $19,780 +tax, tags etc. I'm picking up a used 2017 with 275 miles on for $16,500 private sale, too good to pass up!

Because I find it hard to believe that only one dealer out of the many has the info and pamphlets regarding the new models, Last time I asked Scott(owner of Sport Rider Inc) about the 2019s he said that polaris hasn't told them anything and that they are doing a "video conference" to reveal the 2019s in august.
If the info was really "leaked" out, it would be posted/reposted on every facebook SS group, so far @highiso dealer is the only person who "has" info on the 2019s.

It could very well be that he has insider info but you know what they say, if it smells and sounds like BS then it is very likely that it is BS.

I was skeptical when he sent it to me, but then thought, why would he try to push me into a 2019 by sending me false specs? And at the risk of his reputation? I didn't know what a Slingshot was until last week. I've done a lot of homework over the past few days for sure and was sold a soon as I took a test drive.

I have a three-hour, out-of-state drive ahead of me. This used 2017 S model only has 250 miles on it, not even ready for it's 500 mile oil change and apparently from what I'm told is immaculate. I'm getting it for $16,500 with windshield and Nelson-Rigg cover.

Too good to pass up I'm afraid. I'll definitely let you all know how it goes.

Thanks again for all of the help in my previous thread!

They all make you want to spend money on mods.

Ha! I'm not big into mods, YET.

cool..3 hours drive and you save 3000 and a dealer who really does not know how to sell loses a deal...I like it.

Welcome to the SS family. If you never drove an SS before or not many miles I would say first make sure those mirrors are setup right. You do NOT turn the black part but you press on the mirror.

let us know about the pickup and the ride back.

I'm actually going back to the dealer tonight so my wife can actually see how the 2018 rides. I'm asking one more time for OTD price of $18,000 then walking.

Now your talking. This gives you time and options. Right now you may not think you need time, you know what you want, all you need is a good price and color options and you'd be right to an extent. Please allow me to elaborate. Getting you first SS can be a lot like when you learned your wife was pregnant with your first child. You know there is a new baby coming and now you have time to prepare for it. Will it be parked inside or outside? If it's outside you'll want a good cover for it. If it's inside you may still want a dust cover for it. There will be times that you'll need to get underneath it to change oil among other things so how are you going to lift it? I read of one owner that doesn't do his own oil changes. He takes it to the local quick change and pulls just the front end over their pit and they do it for him. Oh and lets not forget all the mods your going to want to do. If you know ABSOLUTELY for sure any mods that you are going to do then you can go ahead and start ordering those. Most but not all parts will swap between the model years without a problem but do your research to be sure. It'll be a lot like when you knew that child was coming and didn't know if it was to be a boy or girl so you went ahead and purchased the things that you knew you were going to need that could be used for either. Some folks are going to tell you to wait until you get your SS and put some miles on it before deciding on any mods and that is good advice unless you are for sure about some things you want. Myself, I knew for sure there were lots of things that I wanted to change and set about ordering thousands of dollars of mods while awaiting delivery of the SS. Up until yesterday I hadn't taken off or changed a single mod/addition that I originally ordered. Yesterday I decided I wanted to try something different with my exhaust. Moral to this story is, you know it's coming so if there is anything you are positive that you want to put on it as soon as you take possession of it you now have the time to shop the best prices and options and have it in hand when the time comes! Enjoy!

Thank you! I found a 2017 S for $17,000. Have to travel about 3 hours. Anything I should be aware of with the 2017 model?
