RIP Kobe Bryant

I thought it was a sick joke when it was first reported, but unfortunately it is true. Kobe and 4 others died in a helicopter crash in foggy conditions today outside of Los Angeles. 41 years is way to short of life to have been here, but he did so much. Not only for his 20 years of basketball for the Lakers, but for those less fortunate.

Sadly, no. His 13 year old daughter also died in the crash. All 9 people died including the pilot. The basketball assistant coach who was a friend of Kobe's and was asked by him to be one of the team coaches.

Reports indicate that the pilot was flying VFR and even though he knew the area and had experience, he was the cause of the crash. He almost hit one mountain and thought he was out of danger when he decided to lower his elevation to get under the fog. He never reduced his speed and as he was returning back to the airport, the helicopter crashed at speed into the side of the mountain and burst into flames. No way for anyone to have survived. Sad sad way to go
