My first 20 years of driving, I never drove an automatic. Now. everything I have is auto, except for the Sling.
I take pride, however, in knowing that I can jump in, or on, a vehicle and drive it. Stick, auto, 3 speed, 4 speed, 5 speed, column, floor, rotary dial or pushbutton.
I had a SAAB that had a 4 speed on the column. First was where reverse would usually be. For reverse, you pulled up, then out, then down. Made rocking it in snow almost impossible, but then, the SAAB was ALMOST impossible to get stuck.
