TricLED Magic Tric Chaser UnderGlow Question

  • hello,

anyone installed this LED Chaser Underglow from slingmods along with the halo chaser lights? I tried to install it a couple days ago, but I'm having issue keeping it on. Here's what I have so far:

    Mods:

    Neutrino Smart Controlled Fuse Block

    RGB Chaser Halo lights

    Problems:

    1. The led strip comes on for about a quick second when turning it on with the remote along with the halo lights.

    2. I disconnected the halo lights input, and only have the under glow LED hooked up. It powers on the whole under glow, but when I change to a different color using the remote, it shut off.

I'm going to try to get in contact with TricLED support tomorrow, but no and see if they can help me with other troubleshooting, but I figured I'd ask around here and see if anyone encounter a similar issue.

    Thanks!

  • What’s the correct amperage set? When i set my halo chaser, i remember setting it to all the way up. I’ll have to look it up tomorrow

The entire fuss box is only good for 60 amps....you have 6 circuits. The max amperage for all 6 circuits combined has to be 60 amps or less. Set the circuit you have the lights hooked to....to about 10 amps.

Do you have other electronics hooked to the neutrino?

The only electronics hooked to my neutrino is the halo chaser lights, but the underground chaser also hooked up to the module where the halo chaser lights connects to. Thanks for that suggestion, I'll look into the circuit where my halo connects to.

  • This is how much each piece of my heated riding gear requires....it’s actually slightly less. But I set the amps a little higher to give it a little head room.

With all my heated gear on high it’s under 20 amps. I have each one on a separate circuit so I can control them individually.

thank you Bigdog I did what you recommended and it turns out that the problem is me....

I had set the circuit where I connected my RGB halo lights long ago to cut off at 2 amp, but after hooking up the underglow to the halo module, it’s now pulling 2.70-3.50, so of course the setting I had set before to cut off at 2 amps would kick in... and here I am going crazy for the past two days why it was cutting off when I power in everything.

Now I gotta finish the installation tomorrow and I’ll finally have the lights ready for halloween!

  • I’ve had made so many operator errors happen in my life I consider it normal.....everything I do ends up like Gillian’s island......what starts out as a simple project turns in to a major undertaking requiring tons of time I never counted on spending....most of it looking for a simple part that should have been available at any store on every block.

On a related subject I have lots of electronic equipment I use for work. Whenever a problem occurs my mind automatically goes to the most expensive complicated unit. Which usually 99% of the time turns out to be the simplest problem.

You're right! Now, I have to remember to look at the settings I have in neutrino before hooking anything. I was just so excited to try it out and see how bright the LED is.

Speaking of simple project, thanks for reminding me, I still have to finish re-wiring the neutrino box... and clean up the spaghetti cable I have in here.

  • If you know for sure your new lights aren’t going to go over 5 amps, I would set the neutrino at 5 amps....keeping it as low as you can keeps more amps available for the other circuits.

I forgot to ask that earlier. I was debating whether to put it in 5, but i set it to 10 to test it out earlier.. but when I did my test, I don't have the SS engine running, just the accessories power on to make sure its working.

you dont think the amps would increase, when I have the SS engine running and have the headlights(currently running HID kits) running? I guess ill have to test it out some more tomorrow after the installation and do some more testing.
