DDMWorks Coolant Re-route

  • Dave, I know I'm killing you!!!!
One other thing I noticed when was replacing my stock hoses with silicone, the short hose the Loops almost 180 degrees from the "pump to thermostat" I think?
The stock hose had an orfice inside the hose that you can feel by squeezing or see if you look deep into the hose. My uneducated guess this was to control the flow rate out of the Pump thus controlling the flow rate thru radaitor for heat transfer. The new Hoses I got from another company did not have the orfice and I could not get the factory one out without cutting hose so I just left the factory hose in. Do your hoses have this orfice or do we need it?

The hose you are referring to is basically a delete hose. In the cars this engine come in those are the heater hoses. The slingshot, not having a heater, just gets this delete hose. The thing inside the stock hose looks to me like a spacer to keep the stock hose from collapsing. Our silicone hoses here at DDMWorks do not have the spacer as it is not needed.

Dave is out of town for thanksgiving and will be back Monday. I will see if he has anymore info on this tube when I talk to him next.

  • Thanks for the reply, my guess if it's a heater core loop maybe the flow restrictions from the spacer is the same flow rate as the heater core has in the car application. Just an uneducated guess. I placed my order for the new tank and hose, looks like another great DDM product.

  • Finshed my steam hose reroute and wanted to share a couple things. The hose coming off the top cover vent has to make a sharp 90 degree bend to get under the breather or breather hose. I had a cycle springs hose that was like 6 ply, super heavy duty but very thick/ large OD. This caused Interference with breather, went back to stock hose and much cleaner. I also have the little KN breather that was in the way so I ordered a KN from Summit with a 1/2" hose barb and extended it out of the way. Dave it would be great if you offered a one piece hose that ran the complete distance to your awesome tank, 24 inches long, 90 to straight in red if you wanted someone to test. Not sure if you would need the 90 bend at the back of engine or just bend the hose? I have the 90 his barb that came with your reroute kit that would work also. I also found a heavy cap on web to plug the rad steam vent, be careful as the bard on the radiation is alumnium and bends easy, almost broke mine.
