Mom and Dad

probably going to fledge any day now - - mom and dad are leaving Spirit alone for much of the day these days

Final update - - at shortly after 5:49 this morning 5/31 Spirit fledged and left the nest. if you would like to watch it you can go to either of the cameras and rewind and watch her take flight for the first time.

I guess I'm not completely done

this afternoon at 16:43 Dad brought a fish back to the nest and about 3 minutes later Spirit returned to the nest wanting some of that fish - they say Spirit might keep coming back for food just so long as mom and dad keep providing it - apparently Juvenal eagles like Spirt will scavange food from other birds and animals for a long time until they learn to catch their own

Yep typical teenager - - off doing God knows what all day and then coming home for the free food - - if eagles had laundry Spirit would probably be coming back for years

On a more interesting note I was reading yesterday in the blogs associated with the eagle cam page that at around 6 months of age Spirt will leave the area completely and if by some chance she tries to return to the area after that her parents will treat her as an intruder and chase her off

Something as parents worth thinking about you think??
