Poor enginering decisions and Right to Repair - Just another example why I don't like Elon Musk and Tesla

  • Elon Musk may be behind some innovative ideas and techniques, but I can't stand the man personally. Decisions like Tesla not needing a Public Relations department, his penchant for off-the-cuff tweets and their potential impact on Tesla as well as markets in general and the just plain crappy design detailed in this article just further my dislike of him and his company. https://www.thedrive.com/news/…y-right-to-repair-matters

  • Well, I don't know Elon Musk, so I can't say whether I like him personally or don't - That aside I can say that I do not agree with many of the policy decisions I have heard were attributable to to him and I also must say he does seem to have the same lack of self control with his tweeting that our last president had

Now having gotten that out of the way I must add that I absolutely love Space X and what they have done to help get this country back into the business of putting our own people back in charge of getting our own people into space without having to beg the Russians for rides

  • Elon isn't the innovator. He hires innovators and purchases businesses he thinks are worthwhile investments. He actually paid for the right to call himself a founder of Tesla. https://www.latimes.com/archiv…-22-fi-tesla22-story.html

well he may not be the innovator, but would Tesla and Space X and Solar City have done the innovation that they did if they had not had his financial backing and support?

being a good or great leader does not mean you know how to do everything what it usually means is that you know how to find and use those who do

  • Opinion piece about Elon Musk - https://slate.com/business/202…unnel-boring-company.html.

I basically lost interest in Elon Musk after he felt compelled to refer to one of the people involved in the Thai schoolboy rescue from a flooded cave as a pedophile after that person commented Elon's offer of help wouldn't reach the rescuers in time. Just one example of many times Elon has opened his mouth w/o thinking. What gets me is Elon won the lawsuit after making baseless accusations of pedophilia. Here's an opinion piece about the lawsuit and how the rich are treated differently from normal folks - https://www.nbcnews.com/think/…-courts-don-t-ncna1098436. Elon's defense that normal people would realize he was just trash-talking is the equivalent of some of the defenses offered by some of the former president's lawyers election fraud claims that normal people would realize they were just being outrageous. Words matter. As January 6, 2021 showed, many people did seem to believe the claims of election fraud.

  • This article is about the Administration's support for farmers and others who want to do their own repairs on equipment they purchased - https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobi…ans-for-your-broken-tech/. Of course, we'll need to see how any regulations are implemented.

This has been debated and in the pipeline for years with little movement. Considering current administration ties with big tech I doubt it will make any real headway with this EO "encouraging" a Federal agency to consider a rules change. While you can encourage a boulder to fly you never really expect it to happen, but you can say you tried.,

  • I hope not, but it did take about 5 years to get the Low Volume Vehicle Manufacturer's regulations finalized. IIRC, they were supposed to be completed in 1-2 years and SEMA was constantly complaining about the lack of progress.
