You'll want that kit--it provides a shroud for the radiator which is now standard on 16.5 M/Y. Pretty much what every normal car has. It deflects the hot air down instead of directed at firewall and tranny tunnel. If you search, you'll see it as airflow management kit or heat management kit. Comparatively inexpensive and also comes with another muff shield.

You should also open the glove compartment and tape around the bracket holes. Good idea to do the same around the pedals. I've used AC insulation tape cause it sticks well on anything. Just spray it black before you install so it can blend right in......2c

Do you think the extra heat will hurt the firewall and tranny tunnel in the long run?

Extra heat? What extra heat are you referring to? -
I guess im referring to the heat reduction kit. Forgive my ignorance.
Or is the whole purpose of the reduction kit to just reduce the heat that passengers feel?

@Mateo which reduction kit? DEI?
-
DEI or Polaris. I am more curious if the over all heat over long periods of time could possibly cause some sort of warping on the plastics? It may seem far fetched, more of a curiosity question.

You''re correct, the heat reduction kit for earlier models is to reduce heat in the cockpit by diverting where the radiator exit air goes as well as block some exhaust heat from getting through firewall. Shouldn't have any effect on engine or tranny.

Maybe we can get some time this weekend if you are available @Jdin
So any word on the walk through? I'm totally excited to see how this was done? I have the alpha variable exhaust and am looking to move the switch to my dash if possible.

Sorry @bohead. Not to give excuses but @Jdin broke his foot and leg and we just haven't really had a chance to pull his sling out of storage to get pics and to do the write up. I'll see if we can get to it soon... -
Oh noees!! Hope he recovers quickly! Health is always first priority!
