but is there a way to stop post from quoting back so many levels deep? The dark side only quotes the pictures 1 post past of pics. Sometimes the post get so big because it contains the same pics over and over...
Multiple redundant pics in 'quotes'

I agree. Let me check. I know one time I asked and they said to just highlight and delete what you don't want quoted. Also a lot of people don't know this. But you can highlight whatever you want to quote and a dialog box will pop up and ask you if this is what you want to quote.

And if you want to quote many different things you can... Just highlight many different things and pick " Save quote" on all of them.... Then click reply at the bottom and it will put all the quotes you saved into the post...

Just like this... I highlighted multiple post in this thread and clicked "save quote" and then went to the bottom and clicked reply

Pretty neat ain't it..
But I do agree it would be nice if it only copied the last part of the previous post....
I will look into it...

Thats cool and I will use it, but the chance of most people doing it is slim. Is there a default setting for the board?

I did not know you could do this.
Thanks for the info rabtech

This is one of those things that isn't changeable by a setting... They (the software company that makes the major core) think its a feature that is not needed... I think it is... I have asked about being able to do exactly what you want and got the preverbal "put it in the future request" and wait,.. However I have kinda adapted to some of the issues and found workarounds...
The hardest part of this software is the language barrier... Its ALL in german... However it is hands down the fastest forum package ever produced... And its the most secure...
I actually think one of the "features" interferes with the ability to just have it pick the last post...
Here is how they brag about the new feature. I think they believe that its handled by having this feature...
Here is a few other features of this package....

Did you put that new package in or just something they are working on? There has to be some german speaking members>

Some modules are converted to English but the help files are never in english.. I use google to convert them... Sometimes things just dont convert correctly..
The recipe issue is because of the conversion factor... I made one change and it screwed so much up... I have battled it for hours and hours....
Right now everything is running smooth except for the recipe module. I will get it today hopefully. I have to look across all the templates and entries and make sure that they all match... Its just time consuming...
When I worked off my desktop I could have multiple windows up and do a compare across all the open files.. Now I work 95% from a Macbook so I have to flip between windows...

That is what we have now.... They believe that you should highlight what you want to quote and click the quote selection button then hit reply and it will quote that selected part...
-
I just went to see the modules.. 60+ pages!!! Jeez!!! I will look too.. Did you see my other question on watching forums?
-
I wonder if you took out that package if it would just roll back to one thread?

No, its embedded in the core...
What people dont know is that its actually this way on Vbulliten and every other package... Its a plugin that gives those the ability to only pick the last post...
What was your question about watched threads?

I see how to watch threads, but is there a way to watch entire forums? I use it to keep a eye on any new posts / threads.. I have one setup on the other forum to notify me when there are new threads in the for sale thread
-
sure there is,,,, finally you gave me an easy one....
Give me a little bit and Ill post your info... I have to run to meet the fedex guy.....
-
I just reread you question.... And the marketplace isn't a forum entry... Its actually a module that ties in... Let me look at that.. I actually do believe i can fix you up on that request... They have a way to notify members when new items are posted via an email i believe...
