I am good for either one, how about a thread so that we don't have to remember where this is at.
Little Switzerland Thread I am going next weekend also (June 21)

Either weekend is good for me. July 20 or the 27
weekend of the 20th or the following weekend 27th I am open

Mid July I should be open.. I am out of the country until the 11th
Throw a date out there, I/We are available 24/7.
Now why the hell would I waste a great riding day walking around someone's house...that makes less sense than a top on a motorcycle
Remember that @Ghost and I did plus 275 miles in the rain in Maggie Valley on Monday in 10 hours. It is all about the RIDE!
were doo we sign up..... I say we need a scouting mission
Let me know something/date
I am also forecasting great weather on May 30, 2019 for Maggie Valley, NC. Would be a good time to get your tickets for the Biltmore Mitch.
Room reservation already made for SSITS2019
I’m game for more local stuff... and will help organize when needed to (ya’ll know I’m more about the people and riding than I am all the hub-bub of structured/commercial events) ~> make no mistake, YOU ALL are why we even go to these gatherings in the first place.
I’m just going to throw this out there: “Slingshot Luncheon”, “Murphy Memorial’s Day Ride”, “Christmas in Cowpens”, “The Mega Super Giant Mighty Moo Stampede”, “Slingshots Uncorked”, “Bues and Blues”, etc... etc... ALL THE ABOVE are why our SSI family rocks. I could easily miss SSITS and not even bat an eyelash, BUT would feel big-time depressed if I couldn’t go to our smaller gatherings.
So yeah, count me in for event planning... LETS DO IT!
If for some chance the Maggie get's boring, we could do another location. Let us say like the Little Switzerland area, it is still in the same area but a bunch of new loops and roads that a lot of us have never been on. It is just North east of Asheville, N.C. even I have not been on rides in that area and I have been going up to the Smokies since the early 70's. Brenda and I had made plans last summer to go and ride in this area but life's events got in the way. So we will be doing this in a few weeks for a 3 or 4 day ride in a few weeks. Anyone interested? @MACAWS
I called direct both times. The Edelweiss had one room let for those days. I do not book rooms on the net.
Better hurry at hotels.com they say only 2 rooms left.
OK. Now I have a room at the Edelweiss and have to cancel the other one. Thanks, now there is one room left.
I'm staying at the Edelweiss down the road for $70 a night .... nice place remodeled 2 years ago
I will change over in a couple of days, that sounds much better. Thanks @Ross
OK, I am registered and there are no more rooms at the $115 rate as of 6/12/2018 @ 12:45 PM. So for now I will have a double queen at $125.
Beginning of the Goldwing ?
I had the fifth one sold in South Carolina when they came out. Stokes Honda in Charleston was the first dealer in S.C. to receive them and got 7 of them. It was the green/blue color. I bought it on Memorial Day. Traded it in on the V-65 Honda when they finally came out.
1,052 miles = 20 hours
I changed my angle drive fluid for the first time at 500 miles and boy am i glad that i did, it was dark and the amount of metal shavings found were heart attack inducing levels, replaced with Mobil 1 gear oil 75/140 .
Given how many shavings there were there and the fact that noise didn't decreased i changed it again at around 1k and once again I found a lot of shaving so this time I went with royal purple, did it again after another 500 miles (RP again) and very little shavings were in the magnet so that has me confident enough to keep it there for a while.
Next change will be at the end of season this year and I plan to follow on @mniron footsteps and go 100% lucas oil stabilizer , anyone who has followed Phil knows that he doesn't pussy foot around so if LOS has been good enough to keep his Angle drive alive for 25k+ miles that is good enough endorsement for me to use it without reservations.
Royal Purple and working on 63,000 miles in the angle drive and the transmisson. Changed the angle drive at about 1,000 and then again at around 5,000 miles
Come to think of it, 2016 was a rough year. We hydroplaned of the interstate in Tennessee on the way back from Maggie!
Damn! that is what mine looked like after I hit the ditch.
I'm researching the idea of using a forced air set-up to pick up air from under the Sling and duct it back to the rear rim. I think a flat (long-ish rectangular) plastic air intake mounted under the Sling, using flexible ducting routed back, fastened in the area of the emergency brake assembly with a directed nozzle type exit, aimed directly at the inside of the rear rim would work quite effectively. Maybe even at lower speeds. Higher speeds would certainly allow for a good constant blast of air. (similar to what the race cars use for cooling their brakes)
I'm all about keeping the things looking good and not have something bulky or half-assed looking. So this would have to be tastefully applied, and still produce acceptable results.
Thoughts????
@mniron is already running one on his Sling, front and rear.
certainly HOPE SO , might be in Atlanta in a couple weeks too
I was supposed to find you and introduce myself
The other advantage with the ceramic pads is the less dust produced from the pads wearing. Helps keep the wheels cleaner
And less braking
