Yes that was the story..

I heard from a Slingshot emp at Biketoberfest that there was support issues underneath the roll hoops. They were still in testing.

No problem @Shatneyman I agree your sound system is something you only want to do once and with the factory Sling there are only so many places you can put speakers without compromising storage space. @Tripod s shopping list looks to be good quality at an affordable price as well as compact. On the other hand @rabtech s system is kickazz if you really want to pump out some sound. The bottom line there are hundreds of choices out there so you really need to decide how much you want to spend and shop accordingly. But the one thing I am definitely going to do, atleast with the speakers, like @Neosolidus suggested is stick with marine grade. It's a slight compromise with sound reproduction but they are alot more durable in less than desirable weather conditions. You can do this and if you run into a snag there are plenty members on here more than willing to help.
I will say this about marine grade, to me I use good quality spears and have never had an issue. I don't buy marine grade and I'm in the rain allot! THey get wet and have never let me down because of rain. But I'm not buying cheapo speakers either..

The economy route w/TV
Toooo Funny!

@Tripod ya know I don't really even miss it..

@TCB, yes indeed. Did a LOT of research to come up with this combo. I really like the new speaker pods for under the roll hoops but that's valuable real estate up there for other potential mods. Also wondering if a 6.5" aimed directly at your head would drown out all of the other speakers...?!
Guess I'm gonna see.. I already have 6.5 coaxial and 6.5 separates with a 10" sub. Next is the 6.5 in the new head rest area.. Can't wait!

I did talk to thew powder coater I have been using and they will not touch it. Said if its "Cast" they don't do it. They also don't do low heat.

Just ordered the following to beef up my factory sound system a little bit. Won't have everything I need until around the 12th of January - looking forward to the installation. Will update as soon as it's all installed...
SSV Side Speaker Pods (I already know they're a snug fit with PRP seats... )
Kicker KM654CW 6.5" 2-way marine speakers, 65W RMS
JL Audio MHX280/4, 50W RMS x 4 channel marine amp; this amp is pretty small! 8-5/8" x 1-13/16" x 3-1/8"
Small powered subwoofer to go under seat (it's a Kenwood KSC-SW11, 75W RMS; didn't want to lose storage compt. to a subwoofer; have one of these in my Scion FRS & like it)
Misc. cable, RCA to speaker wire adapters, etc.
I had already replaced the factory 5.25" speakers with Massive Audio. Will be feeding the OEM front pods from the JL amp & will probably have to back the gain off for them (adjustable gain for each speaker set). With this amp I can also bypass the lower frequencies (freq. selectable) to each speaker set as desired so that will help with sound quality also. Will obviously be using speaker level input to the amp but it also has an input sensitivity dial for signal matching - sweet! Will need to spend a little time dialing in the system.
I'll see how it all sounds & if not satisfied, may then go ahead & replace the front factory pods with SSV pods & run Kickers in those also. Time will tell!
----------------------------------------------------------------
On a side note, ordered a couple of Ram Mount pieces so I can mount my video camera off of my center windshield brace & it will be just over the windshield - I use a remote mic inside the cabin to eliminate wind noise.
Also ordered some more Sea Foam.
Sounds like u have a plan

I too have powder coated my roll hoops. The way I see it is this. The hoops are forged and are subjected to much higher temps the the powder coating process. The powder I used was baked for 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Although I hope I never put the hoops through the ultimate test, I feel that the powder coating process does not reach high enough temperature for a long enough duration to change the structure of the aluminum. That is just my opinion, and is not based on facts.
Yes now I had O issue powder coating my roll hoops, but the swing arm thats kinda why I was asking..

This is an interesting thread. I've painted 4 now and not one was Powder Coat from factory. (At least not like PC as I know it.) I have not seen a new one yet so maybe the new ones are PC.
However, maybe low temp PC has properties of paint so maybe they were a low temp PC.... just don't know....I don't Powder Coat here. But during the prep work on the OEM, the finish was easily sanded off which PC as I know it is not easily sanded off!
@mniron is absolutely right ... PC is much more durable than paint but temps needed to regular PC does funny things to aluminum. I would use DuraCoat over a low temp PC any day. Very durable and no heat needed to melt it. The structural integrity of the swing arm is pretty important!
Hey pal, PM sent!

So I have to ask...How is this Clarion Amp? I was told that Clarion is a dying company and fading out...Of course I learn this after my Clarion set up installed in SS? I was told there so far behind compared to competitors? So I was just curious seeing the discussion on amp...??
Yea I'm with ya on this.. I too have the Clarion head unit..

10W6v3-D4 or single also what are you using to drive it?
Cant remember which JL sub, but am using a JL mono amp for it.
-
Hey @rabtech was there a reason why you didn't use the SSV sub box and decided to mount the JLs directly on the doors?
I am going for just one sub and debating on whether to get the SSV sub box or go your route...
i am running one SSV sub box behind the driver. Love it. Great sound. JL 10" sub
