never mind him Phil, He,s already had his hurricane and probably his fair share of spankings too ! Your still in line for both !! be safe eh !

What roof do you recommend? I really don't want to replace my stock windshield. I found a used Twist Dynamic Gullwing online and don't know if I should go that way. I am also looking for something that comes on and off easy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

check out our new tops ! self supported by the roll hoops , so removal is simply a matter of pulling the two locking bolts on each hoop, not exactly accommodating for daily removal, but on and off is a breeze, now and again.

should point out for those that don't know Otter,s sling the front fenders were previously removed as was the front spoilers , as he is an avid fan of open wheel racing and was and is in the process of customizing his sling as that.

someone crashing into the guardrail while trying to push the vehicle to improve his timing on as "race" should not be considered in the talks to determine if something is safe or not...too many unknowns and the possibility of driver error is just too high.

yes @Neosolidus Otter is the first to admit he was pushing the limits at the hill climb that day and was setting some top times too , And wouldn't you know it , him and I had spent a half hour that morning at SSITR measuring my rear quarter panels and his Sling to see if they would fit as he thought they would be an awesome addition to a quad kit , fairing in the rear tires instead of my luggage cases then we left for the hillclimb and,,,, well he says he,s still interested but some other parts need to be purchased first , lol He has never insinuated in any way that the crash was a result of any thing else other then him pushing the limits just a little too hard ! and in our conversations and all his postings on T.D.S. he has never had a bad thing to say about that quad conversion.

I talked to Kevin from Slingshot Body Kits, he will be in Eureka Springs for the event as a vendor. I just bought the Slingshot tow dolly. So now I have an aluminum Slingshot trailer for sale.

Thank you @alburl , not only for the dolly purchase, but for keeping your vendor costs so affordable for this event . It helps all and benefits all !
Al has turned out to be what I had anticipated most dolly customers would be, someone who would prefer the much smaller storage capabilities of a knock down dolly verses a full size trailer.

    Right. That's an expensive upgrade!

Ive often heard people say, why are aftermarket parts so expensive? my response has always been, perhaps you should ask yourself , why are Polaris parts so expensive, compared to aftermarket parts ? Especially considering they have the upper hand in mass manufacturing and the associated cost reductions that come with higher volumes. The Slingshade is a prime example !

For that money I can get you 4.5 tops shipped.... :D

lol I second that, and if you want painted fibreglass I can get you 2.5 of them , don't know what you,d do with the half one though !

If it bolts on its removable. Welded on would be nonremoveable. My roof bolts to the frame and the roll bars behind the seats. But it's not considered a roll bar by the manufacturer. Liability issues disclaimer

Does it have a metal subframe or is it just a hunk of fiberglass

Having a little trouble with that analogy @Bigdog , many if not most of the structurally required permanent parts on the slingshot and many other vehicles are bolted on. Are the wheels not considered a permanently required part of the slingshot required to be bolted on in order to operate ? I think if you check it out , removable means, removable quickly and easily at the operators discretion by himself on a daily basis ,as it is only an option and not required for normal operation. A semi structural component like a RIGID roof that requires two persons to lift on and bolt in place, with tools an operator is not required to carry with him for the normal operation of the Slingshot, is hardly a removable option on a regular basis. Just my opinion .

Coming in very late on this thread, but I too have been thinking about a forward swept wing design. I'm not going to go back and read the previous 11 pages of banter, but if you're taking a poll you can add me to the "like it" side. Also, I really like the idea of it melding with the side wing panels, as shown in @mniron's teaser image (post #2).

Couldn't agree more, and something like that is on my bucket list for this winters fibre glass works, just been busy on welded stuff lately with the hydraulic trailer, tow dolly and now,, oops almost spilled the beans a week too early ,,, as I,ve said before , never know when to keep my mouth shut !

Yah I believe @StickerDick is certainly onto something here , I sent him a link a while back to a British site where the Honda conversions have been dominating the Lotus Elise conversion market overthere, Honda Elise | The UK's Top Honda Engine Conversion Specialist its a well proven and successful market over there as most Elise are powered by the Toyota 1.8 litre , my 2009 was supercharged and performed well but the track guys over there , (as Lotus is built there ,and theyre big on the track circuits there) are finding the Honda a viable alternative and a great performer. perhaps Stickerdick is leading the way to a new Slingshot revolution here if Its half as successful as it is in Britain !

yah that's an interesting concept, I believe its a Tiltster , the tiltster kit has been available for a while, it started out on lighter bikes and has worked its way up into the Harley and Indian bike crowd , its been around Long before the Syder became available . it certainly has proven to be a well engineered concept if your into that style .
