I know of 2 engines blown from that kit. I also know of 3 people that traded them in before ever installing them for better kits. The big issue with the kit...No intercooler. That means a lot more engine heat. That means your engine is literally sucking in hot air which is never good. Add to that...no Fuel injectors included...not enough fuel + extremely hot air from the lack of intercooler = boom. Now for the trifecta... no tuning. Letting the factory PCM that is configured for non turbo application...try to adjust for an additional air pressure increase (hot air) and no adjustment for additional fuel (engine starvation) pretty much equates to paying $2k to blow up your engine.

I'll sum it up like this. Imagine if you get off your couch and decide to go to the middle of Death Valley on the hottest day and decide to run a marathon with out food or water. I don't think you would fair too well. That is what you are asking the engine to do with that kit.

Well I understand. They also state what they include and what they do not include with the kit on their ebay page and website. One would assume customers would do their homework and add whatever neccesary part + tune to an incomplete kit in order to be safe (which you never are anyway with a turbo setup). Thanks for that information though. I ordered some cheaper parts from them yesterday that i thought were fairly priced to give them a try and really want to see what their customer service is like.

I would avoid the Demon Speed Shop like the plague if I was you, their turbo is a disaster waiting to happen, their steering wheel are cheap chinese wheel that can be bough on ebay for 1/2 the price and bend like wet noodles, they have no presence on the forums that I know of, which means that if and when you have an issue you would be shit out of luck.

If you are interested in shocks and have to crunch your pennies then just get DDM new set of coilovers but if you can afford an extra hundo get the JRI GT from DDM(what i personally use and highly recommend for a non track fiend)

i see everyone bashing Demon Speed Shop and their products. Do you have any actual proof their Turbo is a “disaster” like you say? Just because a vendor is not present on the forums does not mean their products should not be given a chance. They actually seem to have decent products at much more affordable (realistic) prices compared to the competitors absurd pricing on some products. If people don’t allow enough competition in the slingshot field we will never stop seeing over-inflated prices on aftermarket products.

I happened to drive a NA 2017 SL with 20" F & 22" R (told was cast wheels) and man, I had a hard time accelerating let's say from 90~100mph, took FOREVER....... guess the weight/diameter of the wheels and do matter

Absolutely. Honestly this should come as no surprise to anyone. The bigger the wheels the harder the rear chain has to work to move the motorcycle. The rental i drove with 18 inch wheels all around had better acceleration and pulled harder all around. The smart thing for performance would be to go 18 inch aftermarket all around or even 17s

kev , I'm really excited about you going quad... Hoping you'll be designing some body work for the rear end to really boost quad sales.

I'm liking the quads, but the rear end still needs work, just like our 3 wheelers... Corbins are the nicest rears... But something could still be done differently.

Exactly. Im not fond of the rear ends on these quad kits especially for the price range.

I did extensive research on the topic of forged wheels vs. cast. After going through a couple of white papers, the conclusion was the difference in weight for a given wheel size offers no real tangible difference in performance and handling. The only tangible difference was the forged had better strength and durability in material design.

After doing this research I was more than happy to go with an SL knowing I would be upgrading to custom wheels with a rear wheel that was better in looks than the SLR in my opinion.

I beg to differ on this. 3 piece and 2 piece forged wheels are generally lighter than cast aluminum wheels. This can be felt almost inmediately after installing them in. On my last project, i went from stock wheels that weighted approximarely 28lbs each wheel to about 20lbs Per wheel by going with a wheel company that offers 3 piece wheels + performance oriented weight shaving packages. The difference is inmediately felt. There is a reason HRE wheels, Strasse, COR, to name a few cost what they cost. They are not just for looks but performance oriented as well. You will rarely see a Porsche or a GTR or a Corvette with cheap, cast aluminum heavy wheels.
