Actually the meansling top has not worked well on my slingshot since I switched to the oem double bubble windshields - the bubbles lean further back than my single windshield and the top hits them when you try to open it restricting how far it can open by a huge amount making it hard to get in and out and rendering the meansling lift useless

The Meansling top cross bar is easy to install. Make good measurements with the bar level, drill pilot holes, enlarge holes big enough to install a threaded Nutsert fitting, install the bar. You can easily remove the cross bar when the top is not on.

I think I would rather go with some roll bar clamps that have mounting points on them - - not as clean looking as your way, but I would not want to weaken the roll hoops by making holes in them - - probably not a big deal, but I would just feel better not doing it
As a side note I would hope I never have to actually test the strength of any roll hoops in the real world
