CAN BUS...Is there a Way?...

  • I would like to get a signal that could power a relay when my sling is in reverse. It's a 2016, and I'd like to get that signal so that it will feed my aftermarket stereo with backup camera to switch the display to the back up camera automatically when i put it in reverse.

I am not sure if there is an analog signal (voltage) available, or do i have to pick it off the CAN BUS or does a signal like that not even exist at all?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dave

  • IIRC, Polaris uses a negative power from the reverse switch , so you need to use a relay to convert that into a positive output. Try Googling "reverse polarity relay diagram". Here's a YouTube video that provides a good demo of what needs to be done -

  • I have a dual relay setup to trigger my Pioneers backup camera trigger.

One relay didn't work, it would constantly have the radio triggered. Someone on this forum posted how to do it with 2 relays, and i've had it setup for about 2 years now. Used the wire feeding the left taillight.
