In other words, you have no idea,
Apparently he's never seen a nurse put in a catheter without lube or a Doc start stitching without novacaine when somebody's being an asshole. They get their shots in too.
Qualified immunity is suppose to shield cops from law suite in less he violates established law or what a reasonable person would do. However, it has been bastardized to include that there needs to be a clear president, that the cop would have knowledge of. This has made it virtually impossible for the cop to be held liable.
Don't add any personal flavor to that definition... just the definition.,..
In the United States, qualified immunity is a legal principle that grants government officials performing discretionary (optional) functions immunity from civil suits unless the plaintiff shows that the official violated "clearly established statutory or constitutional rights of which a reasonable person would have known".It is a form of sovereign immunity less strict than absolute immunity that is intended to protect officials who "make reasonable but mistaken judgments about open legal questions", extending to "all [officials] but the plainly incompetent or those who knowingly violate the law". Qualified immunity applies only to government officials in civil litigation, and does not protect the government itself from suits arising from officials' actions.
Qualified immunity is suppose to shield cops
Clue #1,... you're wrong, it has nothing to do with protection from wrong doingwant to try again?
Slingblade , come on bud, bring it, what's up

I was wondering the same, I haven’t seen anything from you that qualifies as a response yet.

And then there is the actual application of it by the lawyers.

waiting for you to tell us what qualified immunity is, come on bud, how does it protect from wrong doing?
And then there is the actual application of it by the lawyers.
Again... let's stay on topic... the question was what is Qualified Immunity, not what does the legal profession do with it...

You're messing up a perfectly good discussion with facts, what's wrong with you.
Slingblade do you want a clue or the answer?

it's all good, slingblade now has this so he can explain how it works with law enforcement

Of course it’s what the lawyers do with it. 🙄
Again, you’re unable to make anything that resembles a counter argument.
Of course it’s what the lawyers do with it. 🙄
Damn dude, next you will be saying that that is the cops fault also, what the lawyers do with the law.... Come one man....
Without qualified immunity cops have no authority to even stop and talk with someone about a crime. When a cop stops a vehicle, they are seizing your 4th amendment rights, your right to move freely down a public highway, shall I continue Slingblade
All cops would be plan citizens with a badge and gun without Q I. There is no such thing as citizens arrest, it would be called kidnapping or unlawful detainment. Do you have a clue yet Slingblade
Without QI a cop could see a murder or any other crime and could or would not have the authority to even detain the person because it would be a 4th amendment violation. Please tell us how that is protecting the cops
