DIY STIFFIE

  • For reference, when the V8 went in mine the aluminum piece had to be removed and was replaced with a tube DOM piece. When I hit the infield wall at about 60 mph (enough to get the whole machine a foot or two off the ground) the entire frame around the engine was completely intact. Only the bit of frame that extends out where the radiator "funnel" was severely bent. The impact was at an angle
    The new brace was unbent and the engine didn't suffer any damage. My guess is the aluminum piece wouldn't have fared as well.
