With the cold weather arriving it became time to start driving my 1976 Ford F100 to work. As luck would be, I need to replace the engine. I am looking for a reliable company to get either a crate or a long block engine from. My preference is for a engine that meets OEM HP for the given year of the truck. I get my speed fix in the Slingshot and drive the truck in the slow lane and relax. Anyone have one to sell? Do you know of company who can be trusted for a rebuild?
I also am considering rebuilding it myself, but time and cold weather has placed that last on the list of what to do.
Any ideas?
Thanks

That would be nice but I have spent all of my mod money on the Slings and now only have a need budget.

The gas station mechanics I used back in Virginia before we moved to Texas in 2009 installed several engines and transmissions from Jasper and reported their customers were happy. I haven't looked at Jasper products in years, but they used to have a good rep for support. Don't know about now. Their site has links for finding installers and costs - Remanufactured engines, transmissions and differentials | JASPER Engines. Since you are looking for an older engine, I don't know if they have what you want or not.

Looks like we found the same engine manufacture. The posting above sources their engines through ATK. They are the same engine builder that Summit Racing uses. I found a ATK crate motor that is turn key for the truck for 2885.00 including shipping. It will have slightly more power than the stock configuration has. The only thing I will need is a new flywheel for the install.
Think I am going this route.

Summit Racing seems to have a good rep, so if Summit uses those engines, I would assume they're OK.
