Power steering removal

My warranty is about to expire so making changes to some of the systems won't be an issue for me anymore. I am thinking of removing the power unit and making a new shaft directly from the steering assembly to the rack.

The vehicle doesn't weigh enough to justify power steering.

Do any of you guys who have hacked into the computer see an issue with the ABS or traction control ?

I broke my steering rack earlier this year and had a hell of a time getting the traction control system back. Ended up back at the dealership to have the system centered. When I took the rack apart it is made pretty cheaply, I would like to either adapt something else, Or see what Flaming River can come up with. I have cars without power steering that weigh a lot more. and I don't like the feel of the power unit. Less computerized shit on this car the happier I am.
