studiopeg I would go back to the dealer that did the swingarm replacement. Any dealer that has a old swingarm can and should give you the axle to correct this. If the dealer doesn't come good for this I would call and start a file with Polaris. This should be covered as I would assume the part was defective.

Most big farmers around here use there side x side as a main vehicle going from farm to farm and general use every day and I see them on the main roads here all day long traveling at high way speeds. I can't see them producing and selling these vents if they wouldn't hold up to everyday use at high speed travel. I think you just way over think stuff way too much. You must be a half glass empty person the way you worry about every damn thing

Well I burnt over a tank of fuel today. Took a ride out so see Hodge for a few minutes before he sets off with his bride to Maggie, then after the mid day storms took my daughter out for a ride. She leaves the nest for a new adventure next Friday 8 hrs away from home to try on her own. She is attending school in Sept for nursing and wants to get a job in the area of the school so it was nice to spend some time with her.

Just in time for Maggie Valley?

oh how I wish, I will be thinking of all you guys down there but not this time. We had plans and vacations booked for it and the daughter was also coming down with us but when I got the word for surgery the plans all changed. The Dr I had is one of the best neo surgeons and has a long wait time to see him and when he said it's happening now I wasn't arguing with him. Booked for the Poconos though.

Well folks I have a slightly used neck brace available if anyone needs it! Yes after 7 weeks I got the Dr's approval to keep it off for good. Weather looks good for tomorrow afternoon (rain in morning) hopefully get the sling out for a good run. As the song goes "I'am so excited " Still can't turn my neck to far but that will come as the days go by.

    my new titanium discs.

No! I greased the bearings before the swing arm recall, I have not greased the bearings since the swing arm recall. The sprocket side is a two piece needle bearing and easy to grease when you pull the axle. The wheel side is a double ball bearing with a split inter race and you can shoot grease or use your fingers to press grease into the opening between the two inter races.

FunCycle i think you read this wrong, I was saying you shouldn't hit the sprocket with a hammer and to use a puller to keep from putting unnecessary shock or one sided pull on bearings and surfaces

It never hurts to rub a little grease on the pulley side bearing as long as you have it open. I doubt Polaris put any extra in when the swing arm was replaced.

last time I was in mine bearings I installed a grease zerk on the swing arm and now able to give a few shots when I change the engine oil. Don't want to overdo it so a few times a year is good

gearhead I believe Loctite 641 is used to seat the sprocket on the axle shaft. To remove mine, I slowly heated the sprocket with a giant heat gun while rotating the axle/sprocket slowly... Eventually, the 641 lets go and you can get the sprocket off. I rigged a large gear puller with pads to yank the sprocket off when the it got hot enough.

gearhead - What year SS do you have? Was the puller really needed or would you be able to tap it off with a sand mallet ?

you could but your putting shock and offset blows to the bearings. The puller keeps a steady even pull and no shock.
