Sounds like both speakers are blown and must be replaced...

I just read the original post from Mailman more carefully and I can only speculate that when the two yellow wires were touched together, which I assume carried the line-out speaker signal from the amp, it may have fried the amp, hence why the audible "pop" was the last thing he heard. The only way to know for sure is to connect the speakers to another audio source and see if they work at all. Given the age of the sling, I wouldn't rule out a cracked magnet, at least in the right speaker, hence why it sounded so bad before it died. If I'm correct about the fried amp, there's a good chance the left speaker still works, but if you replace one of them, you might as well replace them both and you'll likely need a new amp, too. By the same token, if you connect a multimeter to those yellow wires, you should see a DC signal of about 4 to 8 volts, if the amp is still working. If you don't see any volts at all, then the amp has given up the ghost. Hope all this helps.

;(My right speaker crackled for a long time then quit working altogether. I took it apart to see if it was blown or what I can’t tell. couldn’t get the wires off to take it out to go compare at Walmart for another speaker. When I touch the wires together on the yellow side it blew out(no sound) the other speaker. Heard a pop. Now the left one is not working I need suggestions of what happened what I can do to fix it. And how I can keep my wife from being ticked off at me. Need help in Indiana. PS leaving for Gatlinburg Tennessee on Sunday

I hope this plays out well and you find an easy fix, but in the end, if it doesn't work out, I removed the stock speaker pods from mine with the 8" Rockford Fosgate speakers still in them. Let me know if you want them and we'll work something out.

I know this is an old thread, but having only owned my Sling for a year, I've come to understand that Honda brake pads appear to be a very popular choice for replacements. I'm curious if they're still as popular for the later models and what some opinions are about their feel and performance.

Got the new tires on the old girl this morning. Can't wait to see what they'll do. Supposed to be the same tire that comes on the new Corvette. Rear tire not mounted yet cause I've got some miles left in the Nitto.

This is the post I've been waiting for! I have Michelin tires on my other vehicles and love them. I can't tell from the photo, please tell me that's a 305/30R20 that your hat is sitting on...

I have noted that finding 85W-250 from other vendors outside of Polaris is pretty difficult?

That's why they did it. Someone in the board meeting said... Hey, I have a great idea that will boost revenue even more... lol

I recently asked that same question. Someone said Polaris now prints the users manuals with 85W-250, but rabtech said similar weights and viscosities work just fine. I'm using 75W because it was all I could find at the auto parts store.

RAM makes the ball mounts in different thread sizes as well. Que Tripod 😉

I suspect they do, but you really have no way of knowing what you need when ordering. For me, it was hit or miss and I missed, but everything happens for a reason and I really like the way this turned out. In fact, my phone is actually mounted a couple of inches lower now than it would have been if my original intent had worked, thus not obstructing my view through the windshield. One day, I'll probably search for a rear view mirror that mounts to the center post in the same fashion and when I order the ball mount for it, I'll remember your advice. Thanks ✌️

Today, I received the final pieces of the cell phone mount I ordered and thus, the saga begins. A big shout out and thanks to our friend MADDMOE for the line on what I consider to be a magnificent mod. First, I received these two parts from Quadlock. Very high quality components ordered for my specific phone. Fits like a glove...

Then I received these two components from RAM Mounts. Also extremely high quality...

Here's where the plan suddenly went south. The thread on the ball mount is different than the thread inside the hole(s) on the NRG Center Support Post. Seriously!? Very disappointed!!!

So, after some thought about returning the whole thing, I decided to improvise. I removed the rear mounting bolt from the center post and replaced it with the mounting ball, which fit very well, and tightened everything back down...

As it turned out, it was the perfect fix for the circumstance and, ironically, I love the way it turned out. It's a rock-solid mount with no movement and no vibration...

I hope this helps anyone that might be looking for ideas for a cell phone mount. 😉
