Hi all, I have a 2015 SL and my speakers started popping like everybody else’s. I got a bit frustrated so I decided to see about sneaking a Pair of 6 1/2 Speakers in without any type spacer, no problem just had to do a little cutting on the speaker pod to adjust the hole of the speaker a little higher in the pod and wider. I went with the pioneer TS 600 M (from Walmart). After getting One pod done and set in place for a test listen, I noticed there was no mids and highs coming out of it. There is a crossover network installed inside the pod that needs to be bypassed to let the speaker play full range. simple process, just remove the pod and separate the 2 halfs of the enclosure, unscrew the crossover and solder the red wire from the new speaker onto the input side for the coil of the crossover to bypass it (see pictures) or you could just use a T tap on the red input wire of the crossover, I prefer soldering more of a permanent, cleaner connection imo, I also used 3M double-sided tape to seal the speaker. I am overly happy with how much difference in sound quality there is, with that being said I went ahead and ordered the matching 4 inch speakers (I think I can modify the pod to make them fit) and tweeters to finish out the pods. The 6 1/2 is surface mounted, which I did notice bumping my leg during my initial test ride. after driving a bit more, it’s not so bothersome now. Hope this information helps. Thanks to everyone in this forum for all the great advice and ideas.

Thanks for the crash course in speaker electronics. I wouldn't have had a clue about how to bypass the crossover.

I was so sorry to hear the Corona virus claimed the life of Joe Diffie, this week. One of my favorite artists. My wife and I have danced to all his hits back in the day. Truly he'll be missed.

My Tundra could pull that, Doc! 😁

That's their job, they are in sales and ratings.

Yep! They have to "sensationalize" everything and "one up" the other networks. It's all about ratings. If they actually reported the news with sincere honesty, truth, and non-biased, or in more recent years, non-partisan views, it would be boring and no one would be interested... ratings go down along with profits from advertisers... world ends... you get the point ...lol

My Sling is my daily driver & my work is in financial which they have deemed important enough to stay open - as such I will be out in the slingshot every work day at a minimum

I train soldiers and the Army never stops training, so it's business as usual for me, too, but now that I have my new Slingshade installed, I can start driving the Sling to work again. 😁

Watched Sam Owens' video last night about how to adjust the alignment of the front splitter, then looked at mine, and sure enough, mine is completely out of whack. Gonna fix that today! 😉

All done! Not a lot of difference, really, but much better. I learned a couple of things in the process... 1) the brackets and bolts that hold the splitter on only allow you to slide the splitter forward and back. If you loosen the top bolts, you have a small amount of up and down movement, but not much. 2) I imagine, with the flexibility of all that plastic, the fit & finish of everyone's Slingshots is probably a little different, but at the end of the day, job well done!

Don’t do the job without some loctite. It makes all the difference! I used the blue and have already disassembled once after that. All bolts were able to come out ok but we’re still very tight! Well worth it. Also, if you have a 18-24 inch extension on your ratchet it makes things much easier

Thanks, SoCal, I have all those things and I'm just about to get started on the adjustment (had to vacuum and mop all the floors in the house first) gotta keep mama happy... lol 😉

CDC just shut down domestic travel....keep your slingshot at home...no joy riding....Unless you have a reason for being out....

gonna be a depressing summer if I can’t ride....

In the time it took me to read your post, and type my reply, five cars, two dog-walkers, and a Polaris side-by-side have passed by my house.
