Hey, when I have my phone connected and my headset connected to the Ride Command system (2019 SLR) everything works fine but I cannot control the volume from the Ride Command unit. To adjust volume I must turn the dial on the the Sena headset. Am I doing something wrong or is this just how it works? On my 2018 Spyder same type of setup, I can control everything from the bike and never have to take my hands off the bars to change volume.... Just curious...

Well, I got to use the ride command navigation on the way home from Georgia and it is functional, but that is about it.

    Some funny things...

Garmin says... in 200 feet take exit on right

Ride Command says... in 200 feet turn slight right

Garmin says... in .2 miles take exit on right

Ride Command says. in .2 miles prepare to exit highway

Just little quirks.. It also seems the accuracy is off by a lot more than Garmin. It would show me on the highway even though I was on a frontage road. To be fair I have not updated the maps, but in my mind I do not believe that will change this. It is also slow to update, it routed me through Dallas (I followed it just for fun) and it would say in 500 feet stay left.. but there were 3 left lanes that went different directions so I chose the "left" lane... Wrong... It was the left center but did not update that until I was already going the wrong direction.

All in all useful but as someone mentioned in another thread will never be as good as the Zumo 595LM.

Update... I found out the problem with the muted mike. I had traveled to Georgia to pick up the SS and carried the helmet with me. Apparently the button to release the Sena from the mount on the helmet was pushed (it fits snug on the helmet) so it was loose, but did not affect the audio, only the mike. Once reseated I can now hear and the person I am talking to and they can hear me as well. Note: prior to the software update the unit would only say "Disabled while moving" when I tried to use the feature, but with the update it now works.

I have a 2019 SLR with Ride Command and when I receive a call I can answer the call through my headset and I can hear the person however my mike on my helmet is always muted they cannot hear me. If I disconnect from the Ride Command and just connect the phone to my headset it works perfect but it will not work through Ride Command not sure why. I have a plied the latest software update from Polaris.

A couple of more questions from the rookie.... I only have my Spyder experience to go on but when the "Nanny" kicks in there is braking and power reduction regardless of what I am doing. On the SS when the ECS kicks in does it not do the same thing? I get the wide tires and hydroplaning, (the Spyder front is a 165 and the back is a 225) and it only weighs 1200lbs... so I will definitely heed the advice here but I am just curious why is is so ... slick. Lastly, for the spinouts and such, was the ECS off and what tires were used? I know the Kenda's are crap (Spyder stock is Kenda as well) but again from my 8 years experience on Spyders when I have switched to non OEM tires (which I did with every bike) I always noticed more hydroplaning. Thanks again for indulging me with goofy rookie questions.

Congrats on the deal of the year and welcome to the mad house, everyone has pretty much covered all your bases but I would like to once again reiterate that if the roads are wet, it doesn't have to be deep water for the sling to get out from under you, even a simple wet road with no standing water can get you in trouble.

When I originally bought my first slingshot I just thought everyone was just crying wolf and believed myself to be superman and didn't think much of riding in the rain....... big mistake , there is no worse feeling than spinning around out of no where and seeing headlights aimed at you and nothing you can do but pray that they stop in time.

    Good luck with the trip.

Thanks again... I was also thinking at first that it may be a bit overblown... but I get it now...

Have to disagree with my pal SoCal on the mirrors - my 2019 has convex mirrors standard for both passenger & driver's side. 😉 But if yours does not, upgrade immediately. Mine have the 'objects in mirror are closer than they appear' etched on em.

Also took US 49 and US 40 from Fayetteville to Little Rock area & back today. Interstate & nearby surface streets were fine - no standing water at all. Not that there aren't problem areas, but major routes seem to be fine.

Thanks, you may have just saved me some $$$.

Yeah I just picked mine up on Friday, it was a 90 mile drive to Richmond from Norfolk and as luck would have it, I was dealing with flash flood warnings and torrential downpours on the way back. So yeah, have raingear ready. As I was driving back in the pouring rain (no roof) I kept thinking ppl are probably looking at me saying this guy is nuts! What they couldn't see in my full-face helmet was this huge smile and me going F-yeah! This is a friggin blast all the while getting soaking wet (I dressed very lightly for the occasion). Finally got home sopping wet and said to myself this is the greatest fun vehicle purchase I have ever made. I have bought a lot of cars and a sportbike over the years and this by far surpasses them all for sheer driving fun.

Of course you will be approached by strangers with tons of questions but what has really surprised me is the sincere interest I am getting from the older generations. I had a woman in her sixties walk by at the gas station and tell me batman must be jealous (my slinger is all black). The next day I had an elderly gentleman in his 70s who was crossing on a crosswalk at a strip mall turned and walk up to me and wouldn't let me go so I had to pull over and answer questions. He was a nice guy with sincere interest in the slinger but clearly it would be too much for him to drive I think.

I would not be surprised if the rumor of a paddle-shifter version turns out to be true for the 2020 model, it would be a more comfortable ride for the older generations and boost sales even further.

I have to admit, I do like the paddle shifter on my Can-Am Spyder. The have been using it since 2010 or 2011. It also has a semi-auto trans. You have to shift up... 1-6 but it automatically downshifts as you slow down and is always in 1st when you stop.

If you hit rainy/wet roads, drive carefully. Slow down. Wide tires & light weight increases the chances of hydroplaning. Don't ask me how I know this! Even 40 mph can be way too fast during heavy rain.

Depending on your route back to Colorado, if you end up on I-40 thru Memphis towards Conway, AR and then take 65 up to Marshall. The take 27 to Harriet and then 14 to Dodd City. After Dodd City, stay on 14 until you can take 125 across the lake into Missouri, staying on 125 until you hit I-70. It sounds like a bit of a pain getting to 125, but it's a fantastic ride for most of the way up to I-44.

Thanks for the hydroplaning advice... All new to me... on my Sypder it handles the rain pretty good, but does hydroplane as well.So when you are running on the interstate... and it rains do you drop off the interstate.. On the route you mentioned, how is the flooding. The only reason I am going home the way I am is due to the stuff I see on TV regarding the flooding. I normally never take an interstate to where I am going. I know a few years ago I was on my way to Kentucky Lake and the bridge had been damaged and I had to take the Ferry from Dorena, MO to Hickman, KY. They told me just two weeks earlier the road I was on was under 4 feet of water...

Hey buddy, thank you for the answers to the questions. Price.. Brand new 2019 SLR ( 3 Miles on odo) for 22999. Dealer had a fire and is trying to get rid of all the stock that was not in the building at the time of the fire. He said they were selling it at cost.

    # 2 - If you leave your phone in there and it rains, the phone will be flooded (no drain) # 3 the lap top is the last thing that I put in the compartment

For #2. I was wondering about the heat, since I have read that the trans tunnel gets pretty warm. #3. The laptop was on a reference to the size of the bag.

Ok, I thought I would get some responses like... Hold the round thing. push the left thing, move the little knob.. Hold on.... :)

But for some serious questions from my little pea brain.... I asked the local dealer and basically got the ? look....

1.If it rains overnight do the seats dry or does one get wet butt in the morning?

    2. The little cubby next to the parking brake, can I leave my phone in there or does it get to warm?

    3. The storage behind the seat, is it large enough to fit a back pack? (Like a computer back pack with my clothes and stuff)

    4. On a lighter note if it rains really hard do I need a swim suit? (does the cockpit fill with water) That was not a real question.

    5. The onboard Ride Command system, A is the GPS as good as the high end Garmin Motorcycle Gps's? Can you mute the sound from the GPS and still have music? Will the turn by turn directions and music come into my Sena 20sEvo?

    Thanks again.

I did use the compartment's for the first trips but I packed the clothes in the compartment, (The wife one side and the other side for me) like a suit case. We had plenty of room for a weeks ride, but nothing else, that was why I built the luggage racks to use with the 10 inch x 20 or 22 inch tube bags and it gave us more room to carry more or buy something.

Thanks, do you have a picture of your luggage racks? Thanks
