The wife hit our local Wally World and snagged two! I decided to make it the centerpiece of my new TV/fireplace wall. Here it is with the barnwood mantel temped up and the TV mocked up.

    Didja see it?

    How 'bout now?

Seriously, these were a lot bigger when I was 8 years old.

    Of course it's red!

I just saw your responses Goats_Hogs and WOLF . You saved me some time today. I knew it was an optical delusion and planned to use a piece of paper and scissors to replicate this and find the 'fudge'. Now I can use that time for something much more productive like shooting moles!

Congratulations Brent and Sharon! Are you up in the forties now? After 32 years, if I get asked for marital advice I tell people to go ask someone better at it than me. I've only been married once. I know guys who've been married 4 or 5 times who obviously have much more experience than I...

My wife’s work just switched to a new payroll company and they are requiring all employees to use a phone app to verify the hours worked each pay period on the app before the pay will be given. You don’t get paid until you have done this. No exceptions, you must use the app.

I remember implementing a new payroll reporting process for a network installation company I worked for back in my corporate controller days. Instead of just reporting total hours for the day, I required each field tech to break their entire day down into 15 minute increments and report as office/warehouse time, travel time, and the exact amount of time on each job so I could accurately job cost. When one of the techs completed his for the first day he handed it to me and said he was done. When I told him this would be ongoing he looked at me and asked, 'you want us to do this EVERY day?' I said, absolutely not. Just the days you want to be paid for. I got 100% compliance.

You will be there in the rainy season so BE VERY CAREFUL in your Jeep! Rain can be very dangerous in the desert- even if it’s not around you. Enjoy your trip!!

You Californians are so funny with your rain phobias!

I'm actually aware of the flash flood dangers in the desert. When I look at properties for sale in Pahrump, which is high desert, I check the FEMA floodplain map since many of the areas are considered floodplains and the flood insurance is VERY expensive. This confused me until it was explained that the floods come from the surrounding mountains. And they come without warning.

The desert is an interesting environment. I've played golf in a T-shirt on New Years day and I've seen it with 2 inches of snow. I painted mom's house in 112 degree weather at 5 a.m. while I fried an egg on her sidewalk (really!). I'm always amused to see people in their winter parkas when the temp drops to 70.

Artist drive off of bad water Road I believe is a must. It is a one-way road so you don’t have to worry about anybody coming from the other direction. Having grown up in New England and later on Louisiana the desert is something that took me a while to appreciate. But I love it now! You should also consider the valley of fire loop north on 15 then through the valley of fire to Lake Mead and then back to Vegas. That is an amazing drive as well!

Thanks SoCal ! Valley of Fire is on the list this year too. For over 20 years we've been spending Christmas/New Years in Vegas and Pahrump where Sara's mom lived. Just us and 300,000 of our closest friends. Now that mom has moved back up here, we're getting in some of the things we never did because we spent our time with her when we were there. Last year we went to the Grand Canyon and the Mob Museum. This year Death Valley and Valley of Fire. We've been through, and hiked in Red Rock Canyon many times, been to every major casino, and we still enjoy exploring the town. For anyone visiting Vegas, one of the unknown attractions is the Pinball Hall of Fame east of the strip, I think on Sahara. They have dozens of working pinball machines from the 30's/40's on up to, and including the electronic age (space invaders, asteroids, centipede, etc). We always stop in and drop a ten dollar bill there. Cheapest entertainment in town!

SoCal we are going to Death Valley at the end of December. No Slingshot, just flying in to Vegas then a rental Jeep. We're planning our route now and plan to spend a full day there to hit the major attractions. Are there any 'must see' places to put on the list?

    Nice photos as always!

Unplugging the 6 sequential lights, 3 on each side had no effect on the emergency flasher. Works with key on, not with key off.

Some of The resisters I put in are before the black boxes and some are after.

    maybe it’s the flasher unit

I think the flasher circuit is susceptible to damage from rain/water. Mine quit working in a nasty squall and I haven't bothered to troubleshoot it yet.
