@sssfjet... You're in Houston? There's a couple of used for sale in the dfw area... Drive it back!

Yeah, when I was looking here locally, they wanted to sell me the demo model at like $23k... I said no thank you and got mine for $17k used in California... Drove it back!

One of those was a little over priced for me and the other one strung me along till he found out if another guys financing would go through. I hope the check bounces. I hope his dog bites him in the ass.

I heard from a guy in WV that some dealers in WV are selling SL's for 18,999.00. So if I paid 19000 for a sling in WV and they charged me 1000 for freight and other pee fees, and then I paid someone 1000.00 to ship it to my house that's 21000.00. That's about 5000.00 less then msrp at a houston location without freight and other pee fees.

Test rode a SL sling. Kinda like riding in a little sports car. Pros = Steering was nice, shifted nice, felt comfortable, radio sounded nice, caught a little second gear scratch. Cons = Salesman told me nobody beats his deals (25,000.00+), then I told him about a dealer in WV who advertises them for 18,999.00. Then I told about his store in north end of town who has a price of 21,449.00 on a red sl. All he could say was... I don't know how they can sell them at those prices. It's hard to find a good deal in Houston as all of these asshats think msrp is a standard price. I'm holding out till I can get a real deal. I did tell him I worked for Yamaha years ago and he said, then you know how it works here... I said yep.

The ride is much more comfortable over multiple hours than you'd expect. You may want to look in the used market. There are some great deals to be had, many with the basic mods already done and for less than $20k.

Saw one on ebay for 19,900.00 with 8000 to 10,000 dollars in mods. Seats, bags and everything else.

based on what you said you would definitely need the upgraded shocks and maybe seats depending which version you get.

The slingshot may not be for me then, I'm not looking for something I have to spend thousands of dollars on to do what the factory should have done to begin with.

I'm betting the sling will ride a little better than my 29 Ford, what got me was it wasn't comfortable after an hour drive (can you say... hip replacement surgery?) . Looking for something that will be more of a couple hour ride before I have to get out and stretch. I have to pick up a part for my Indian chieftain at the dealer soon so may do a test drive then if they will let me test drive. They had a bunch of weiners going there and test driving just so they could do a utube vid so it's hard to get them to let you do a test drive now. We'll see what happens when I go there.

I'm not worried about mountain roads, I'm not worried about twisties. I just want to hear from anybody who weights in at around 175 pounds and find out what the sling rides like on the road with that kind of weight on it (standard suspension). The reason I ask this is because I owned a goldwing and with my 175 pounds on it it rode like a dump truck. Just wondering what to expect from a sling. Thanks for your help.
