We will know by then if she can get in and out of the SS.
Beats the crap out of a gravel road but not much difference if the contractor wants more profit in his pocket...
Wiki for those who want more info...
It is not the pop corn. But I can see right now I would not like riding a motorcycle (2 wheels) on it.
Display MoreMy wife & I went from Treherne Manitoba to Mount Kisco New York last year.
- The Sling needs fuel about every 4 hours or so. Take the time to get a good stretch in.
- Walmarts are great to get in out of the rain. Gives you time to stretch, a place to eat and grab snacks, and perhaps dry clothes
- collapsible umbrella x2 if you can't get out of the rain (unless you have a top)
- Zip Lock baggies. Place your phone or GPS inside it, and tear away the bottom corner of the baggie. Then put it in the mount again. This lets you have it running while caught in the rain... see a theme here? (And yes, this was an expensive lesson learnt)
- These are a great investment. Will let you actually sleep at night
- Storage space? What are you running with? Saddle Bags? Roll bar bags? Bike Trailer? We have a trailer that we tow. Lots of room, and a built in cooler for drinks when it is hot. @rabtech has quite likely the best trailer I've seen out there for sale, lol.
Aside from all that..... be ready for, "That's cool, what is that?" at every stop. Along with kids and adults alike pointing and taking pictures all along the road. You're gonna love it. I mean, really, we didn't buy slings so we can hide in a crowd, lol
Have a great trip
I found out that the snack size zip lock bags work perfect. I was using the larger until I found out this size drops right over the 5 inch Garmin GPS
Glad to hear she is home and doing better.
I give you a lot of credit for you dedication to care for her. So many in need are no so lucky. So besides you tough driving style there is a softer side.
Maybe we can rig up a temporary grab bar to the your top to help her lift herself up.
Give her our best and let her know we are thinking of her.
Yea, and install a sling on the outside to hang her leg in
If she's under 5'6", it's doable once she can put weight on her leg. Depends how well she can bend, but you can step in to the seat, bring the leg in, then sit down. Don't think it can be done seated....
She is 5 ft. 4 in. she has always been limber. A thrill every night just to watch her exercise back in the day.
Nothing against Vir. but if I was to move it would be warmer not cooler location.
I could be talked into moving to the Maggie Valley or the Murphy area or close enough like @Bubblehead to take an every day ride on the twisties
We will determine whether all of her road trips are on or off after 2 months. I have got to try getting in and out of the passenger seat with a right leg that will not bend for at least the next 6 months. I have my doubts about that happening.
Well, Brenda made it home about 1 PM today. She is not supposed to put any weight on the leg for the next 2 months. Other than that she seems to be doing OK. She just realized again that she cannot get up and do what she thinks she needs to do.
Move to Virginia. You will never be lonely.
Seriously. I can cover you for room and board until you get settled in.
Nothing against Vir. but if I was to move it would be warmer not cooler location.
Holy Smokes!!! That crap is only one notch above a dirt road!!! It would surely put lives in jeopardy!! Who among those politicians will step up and take responsibility when, not if, accidents happen???? Simply Ludicrous!!!!
Is it worse than the so called pop corn asphalt, that stuff is slick. I think they have quit putting that stuff down, it was coming up in sheets.
Cannot get anyone together on this end. Well there is just the two of us that get together for our own wrench day and rides. I do know there is 7 of us within 35 or so miles from me.
Oooooh... that's cute!! I may have to resist our agreement?!
You can get it hydo dipped with anything that you may want
Yea. After looking at what you have done so far..... I would definitely talk him into getting the Roush decals. Raptors can't hold a candle to that beast....
But it is still a Found On Road Dead
Display MoreHey Guys, Keith here with SlingMods.. I've been reading this thread and felt it necessary to chime in to just to reiterate our mission here at SlingMods!
Who is Slingmods and what do we stand for?
Automotive Enthusiasts
We were long time followers of the Campagna T-Rex and anxiously awaited that machine to enter into U.S. distribution. We even tried becoming a U.S. distributor for that machine at one point in time. When Polaris stepped up to the plate, we were absolutely blown away that this 3 wheel machine was actually hitting the streets. I anxiously hit up Bert's Mega Mall in Covina Ca. the moment I saw the first article, to put down my deposit and secure my place in line. We were later recognized by the forum as being the 1st registered owner of the Slingshot in the U.S.! We didn't waste any time with this opportunity and immediately began to pursue manufacturers to help us make and design products for the Slingshot.
Wanted to Pursue our Passion
We started the SlingMods website in Aug, 2014, a few months before I took ownership of my 1st Sling.
We started SlingMods because Josh (my business partner) and I were tired of our day job Selling Ink & Toner Cartridges on the internet. We'd been selling ink & toner since 2002 and it seemed to be a continual race to the bottom as manufacturers shifted away from supporting U.S. companies and began "knocking off" Ink & Toner cartridges overseas. We fought hard to try and keep our suppliers making product in the U.S... some listened, most did not.
Treating the Customer as we like to be Treated!
Customer Service is the backbone of our business. I'm still blown away when I enter a Restaurant or Retail Store and the clerk behind the desk treats me as though I owe them something. "It blows my mind". The equation is simple. Happy Customers = Prosperous Business. This is taught and re-taught to our employees at every meeting and inherently becomes part of their DNA.
We well understand this and strive to provide some of the best service you've EVER received.
Why do we understand this? Other than the fact, than it's how I was raised. We understand this because we've been selling online since 2002 and have received tens of thousands of online reviews. This was our Master's Degree in Business! The customers are actually the teachers for business. Some businesses neglect to realize that and inevitably fail. We embrace the customer feedback and thank them for their advice!
Consolidating all Vendors Under One Roof
We actively pursue relationships with manufacturers, to try and get them to express interest in this wonderful machine. It's often quite a daunting task to get their attention and I sometimes have to "beg" to get them to make products for our customers. We understand the frustration of dealing with MFG's direct. We have inherited that responsibility on your behalf as part of our business model and I think it's partly what makes Slingmods great! We deal with the stress of getting your tracking, handling returns, revising designs, getting questions answered, etc for over 60 vendors, so "you don't have to". Think of us your personal "concierge".
I can't express in words our enormous gratitude to the Slingshot community for your continual support over the years. I felt I needed to explain to you guys where we come from and what we stand for in case you don't already know us!
We're just a couple guys from So Cal.. , following our Passion!
Thank you Keith and Josh, I support you and SlingMods
Welcome! Damn that pop up tent trailer thing...
ENOUGH
you already taught me. I CAN drive a stick, I'm just not comfy with it. Besides, all I need on twisties is 3rd, and even I can find that. Hell, I'm better at 3rd than 1st... take that however you choose.
In the twisties just keep the RPM's between 3,400 and 5,600 and stay on the gas. Most of the time you will be in 3rd or 4 th, on the hair pins you might get down to 2 nd
Yes. Many vendors will be there. I would recommend you pick what brand of Header, exhaust, etc you are looking for and call the vendor and arrange for install at SSITS. That will insure that you get exactly what you want.
If you are going to do any installs at SSITS, you had better get it scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday. If not you just might be sitting around at the hotel waiting on the work to get done. Call the vendor and schedule early. Make sure that you raise the limit on tthe charge card.
Yes, it has been a long time since I got out of the USN. Oct. 1970 3 years 10 months and 21 days
Display MoreHi all.
On my way this afternoon to pick up my new SLR. Really looking forward to it!!!
As crazy as it sounds I have never drove one. I never seem to test drive anything I buy LOL My wife asked..."Did you test drive it?" I said no....I can drive a 5 speed though
She just shook her head because I have her going on the innagural ride from the dealer with me which is about 25 miles.
Thom
Welcome to the ride, you will not regret buying the SS. Just go ahead a raise the limit on your credit card.
