My original plan was to purchase Meansling floor and tunnel mats. A member in our group has them and the quality is superb. Unfortunately, it appears that they are no longer available so.....

I am looking for opinions on the current sets available. If there are any other manufacturer suggestions, please let me know.

My concerns with the stick on foam ones are:

    A. inability to remove to clean.
    B. how do they wear?

    C. what products to use to clean?

    D. do they peel off on hot sunny days?

My concerns with the carpet ones are:

    A. Do they move or bunch up? If so, has anyone installed snaps (appears fairly easy)

    B. How do they wear?

The sets that I am looking at (all will include tunnel mats):

    Twist Dynamics GEN 2

    Foamskinz

    Ultimat Fitted Carpet Floor Mats

    Luxe Fitted Carpet Floor Mats

The ball still remains in Polaris court.

The automatic transmission will open the market to a much bigger audience but, it is up to Polaris to do the marketing to get those customers.

Should they decide to save a few bucks and just dump the burden on dealers, the Slingshot will die a quick death.

Racing season has just begun. This is a perfect target market. Polaris should be running commercials during every race highlighting the new changes. Get the word out that anyone can drive one. (except in my state of Massachusetts..... still need a form of a motorcycle endorsement X()

Should the Slingshot become a distant memory, I am sure other manufacturers will develop something to fill the void.

I'm not looking at this product as an "anti-theft" deterrent. I want it for piece of mind that my Slingshot will remain in gear with the e-brake applied.

After hearing and reading countless stories about random idiots that feel it is OK to jump into a parked Slingshot to take selfies or just see how it feels, I worry about these morons releasing the brake and running through the gears.

Did you have a chance to see if it would fit over the stock e-brake lever?

I am still considering this option, just wondering if I need to go with the aftermarket e-brake handle and boot.

    Thanks

That was fast shipping - was that the ebay purchase or the last stock on the amazon link?

Do you have a stock e-brake handle?

If so, please post photos of how it fits or any mods needed.

    Thanks!

I have an aftermarket brake lever, but others have rounded the bottom of the stock handle so the lock can slide over it.

    Thanks for the info.

I am assuming you have the NRG setup available from Slingmods?

That my be my next mod just so I can use one of these.

It always concerns me when I park on an incline that anyone could reach in and put in neutral / released brake.

I have gps tracker hidden on mine. My insurance gave a pretty good discount for having it. To help keep kids from putting it in neutral and releasing the brake I have one of these (found on ebay).

Any modifications needed for the brake/shifter lock?

I thought I recall past posts that they needed modification to fit over the stock e-brake on the Slingshot.

    Thanks

I use Master lock Street Cuffs to lock the steering wheel to the frame - they are available on Amazon for about $33 - Street Cuffs

I do something very similar but, just a different product.

My concern with the street cuffs was that the steering wheel can be cut in one place quickly.

This lock can loop through the steering wheel, requiring at least 3 cuts of the steering wheel.

If someone is skilled and determined, neither will stop them. A battery angle grinder will cut through either in short order.

Still looking at options to interrupt the starter button and require a proximity key or perhaps a keypad code.

That's good news. Now if passed anyone in Massachusetts who doesn't have a motorcycle endorsement will be able to operate a slingshot!

Providing it actually gets to a vote.

Something that many people in Mass don't know about is the "J" endorsement.

It covers three wheeled motorcycles only.

The J endorsement is given if you take the registry test with a trike, slingshot, spyder, mc w/sidecar, etc.

Basically, anything with more than 2 wheels.

Regardless, as the current law stands, you need more than a standard class D to legally operate the Slingshot.

Massachusetts currently has a bill introduced recognizing "autocycle".

Where it goes......????? A similar bill was introduced close to 3 years ago and remained tabled until death.

This new bill inserts the word "autocycle" in 4 locations.

It also relaxes licensing requirements to allow any Class D (normal operator) will be valid for autocycle.

Helmets will remain mandatory for both operator and passenger.

From what I understand the GT will keep the 2.4 engine and 5 speed transmission. No change

Looking at the current "build options" on Polaris Slingshot website:

    1. Base "S" model has no change. Color is White. Engine remains the GM Ecotec with 5 speed standard. All body panels are the same as 2019.

    2. GT model appears unchanged. Color is Black w/white stripes. Engine remains the GM Ecotec with 5 speed standard. All body panels are the same as 2019.

    3. SL model appears available with the new body panels and the new engine. The only current transmission option is the new Autodrive. Perhaps this is a marketing strategy to unload the remaining inventory of the old body style. Personally, I think many existing Slingshot enthusiasts prefer a standard transmission so, I doubt there will be lines of people trading their existing SL models this year.

    4. SLR model appears to have all the new features, including an option for standard transmission.

I like much of the changes. Headlights look great. Radio is now vertical. I would be willing to speculate that you can actually see it rather than a blinding reflection of the sun. Integrated controls on the steering wheel certainly gets away from that 1990's Volvo turn signal with cruise settings.

I am sure we will see aftermarket "retrofit" headlights for 2015-19 models that will mimic the new design.

The cheapest option is to buy your wing off of Ebay and mount it to the frame and rear panel. I did that and it cost me around $250 for a carbon fiber wing from China. IMHO it looks the best and is out of the way from the roll hoops. There are threads on this somewhere in this forum or on the dark side

I also prefer deck mount over roll hoop.

I was looking at several different wings on Amazon and Ebay.

Fabricating brackets to attach to aluminum rear sub-frame shouldn't be a problem.

I am trying to figure out width, bracket rise, and bracket spacing. Hoping to find some photos of what others have installed.

Seems that the width options are 57", 53", 43"

Bracket rise seems to be the more challenging. Most seem to be around 6.5". That seems a bit too short in relation to the roll hoops. I was hoping to get it around the same height as the hoops.

I see the wings available through Slingmods and SSO.

What other options are out there that look good on the Slingshot?

    Any lower cost options?

Any photos / links are appreciated.

    Thanks!

Isn't that going to be much harder to accomplish with so few dealers left to promote it? It won't matter what Polaris does now, nobody will be interested in our area if they have to travel over three hours just to take a look at one?

    Bill

    So true.

Cutting themselves at the knees is not really a winning marketing strategy.

By ramming inventory levels down dealers throats, they put all risk on the dealer only. Polaris would be better served if they helped dealers with kickbacks to help sell the inventory that was forced on them.

Polaris themselves were responsible for forcing our original dealer, and others, out of the SlingShot business by demanding each dealer to carry a minimum inventory, of which smaller dealers could not afford.

The very reason many dealers in the northeast dropped Arctic Cat, or went under if they were exclusively Cat dealers, about 15 years ago. There used to be 4 within close proximity to my home. Now......I don't think there is a single Cat dealer left in Massachusetts.

Polaris should offer dealers incentives rather than forcing mandated inventory.

Also, Polaris needs to be a little quicker in offering re-designed models. We all love our Slingshots but, when there is zero change other than colors each year...... that's not much incentive for me to change.

Repeat customers are usually the core of any powersports or automotive manufacturer.

Once the new Slingshot is released, there will be a big rush of sales. If that model remains the same for 4 - 5 years???? Sales will flatten.

Every time that you make a bend you make the metal weaker at that point.

Since the factory mount is little more than stamped steel and is now compromised, I will be upgrading the lower mount during the off season. Will also add shims.

Just need to shop for a new mount.
