I have a boost gauge. And yes, I noticed the loss. It was that it was just so sudden like. Drove out to the car show Saturday after washing the SS - No problem (there was a cop most of the way there so we were driving the speed limit). Driving home - Problem.

Dave was thinking that I got something wet in the coils or somewhere (washed the SS and Engine Saturday before the car show.) Blew out the engine Monday night and took it for another drive. Was even worse. No power and boost gauge was bouncing all over the place. I could tell that the blow off valve wasn't working either. Let me to think I had a leak somewhere.

Wednesday night, I started top down, checking every single screw, hose, wire, etc. Started on the drivers side - found nothing in 15 mins. Went to the passenger side and started top down again. Wasn't until I touched the muffler that I found the muffler and turbo were both loose. Tightened both up in 5 mins and everything is fine.

This thread was more about Dave's quick (< 1 hr) response to a past customer. How many other companies or people can you say that about?

Okay, so I have Dave@DDMWorks Stage 1 Turbo. Installed myself with some coaching by Dave 18 months ago.

Started having some backfiring this past weekend. Sent a note to Dave - AND HE ANSWERED WITHIN THE HOUR! Told me to look for a couple things, which I did. Eventually I found the issue (loose nut between the steering wheel and the seat - yeah, I'm an ID-10-Tee) and got it fixed.

But I just want to thank Dave@DDMWorks for his help and quick response. You don't find customer service like that everywhere. Which is why I keep spending my money there.

    Thank you Dave!

Welcome Scanman! You'll find quite a few events for SS's in Texas (I'm in Austin). Heck, the Austin crew was just up there on Sunday for Babe's Fried Chicken. There is a Get-To-Gether in Houston April 13-16 (I hate to say it, but most of the GTGs are posted on Facebook - yechhhh!)

A few of us from Austin are going to Miami in 2 weeks for the big Slingshot Roadsters event (~500+ SS) if you want to join. We have an Air BNB rented and I'm sure we can fit you in.

Alamo Cycle Plex in San Antonio and Team Mancuso in Houston are also a great supporters so check them out. Also check out the vendors on this site. They are all great.

Oh, and BTW, try not to spend too much money on it too soon. Once you start spending money on the SS, you get addicted. Go to some GTGs or shows to see what other people have done before going too crazy. And then get a credit card with a very high limit!

I think its a very safe bet that Polaris does not produce their own oil or any of the other lubricants and fluids that they sell under the Polaris brand name

I'll guar-ran-tee this. When I was with another OEM, all our oils were made by the big companies. Sometimes just rebrands, but sometimes not. But while we may have controlled the spec of the oils, they were made by someone else.

As long as you keep to a known brand name, you'll be good. Personally, I run Valvoline (since I know EXACTLY what I'm getting there - been to the plant where they produce it), but I understand the Mobil 1 preference too.

    Welcome to the insanity!

Warning: Don't go buying any accessories just yet. Drive it for a couple months, go to get-to-gethers and shows. See what other people have done, what you like and what you dislike. And then get a credit card you're significant other doesn't know about!

Well back to the original question:

Yes, you are probably okay to go out to the manufacturers recommendations and change every 7500 miles.

But I look at this way. I might do 2 or 3 oil changes a year. Cost $45 per change to do it myself (plus $6 for the beer). Maybe I could extend it and do 1 less oil change per year, saving me $45/yr (I still drink the $6 beer, so no savings there). That's a cheap price to pay to help extend the life of the engine.

    Okay, called both hotels.

    • Days Inn does have a couple of spots for RV/Semi parking, but no hookups. Parking is limited, first come first served.
    • Sleep Inn has a gravel parking lot with lots of space for RV/Semi parking. No hookups, but there is a pic on the website so you can see plenty of room to park. (**This would also be good for anyone who is trailering.)

Next would be to find out if Polaris will let us park overnight in their parking lot. Does anyone have or can someone contact Polaris to see if this is okay? I don't want to step on toes here.

I do oil changes on a dozen or so cars and a half dozen pieces of equipment. I just keep a notepad in the garage with a page for each one. Pretty simple to record date, mileage or hours, service performed, etc. On my equipment I write the date and hours on the oil filter with a sharpie before I install it. Then I have a quick reference when I check oil before each use. I include the date so that I know to change it each year or so regardless of hours. This helps when they sit unused for a period of time. There's no reason I couldn't do this on the cars but it's not my habit.

I do a similar thing but I keep a maintenance log in the owners manual of each car. Don't just log oil changes, but everything - including when I added mods. Got date, mileage, etc all in 1 place. I also keep the last receipt for each type of purchase in case of warranty issues (did use it once on a battery).

    Nobody even mentioned Bridgestone...

    Prolly a very good reason...

I sort of did - it was one of those 3 brand name 335 x 22 tires over $600!

I think Pirelli and Goodyear were the other ones (but my memory may be a little off - I've had a "couple of" beers since then....)

A couple of us are coming in RV's. We're sort of hoping that we can set up at the plant or hotel. I agree that the nighttime activities at the hotel last time were probably even better than the daily GTG at the plant. Sort of still waiting to decide once final accommodations are set. But, it's already penned in ink on my calendar!

Okay, very generalized summary and lots of people have differing opinions so I respect that. It's like asking who has the best hamburger - everyone has opinions but it ultimately comes down to what YOU like.

But what you'll find if you search:

    • Stock Kenda's are okay for driving around town, but nothing really spirited. Plus you can only get them thru your SS dealer so high $$. You might get lucky and find some take offs. I know our San Antonio dealer sells the 17/18's for $300 (set of 3) and $500 for the 18/20's.
    • NIttos are a good hot weather tire, but downright scary in cold or rain. To the point that most people move away from them (including me).
    • Toyos seem to be pretty good all around but their styles and sizes are limited. I know that the preferred Proxies 888s are sometimes hard to get so many people are running the STs (myself included).
    • Lexani's seem to be popular with the show crowd - see lots of those on 22" & 24" wheels.
    • Lots of other name brands seem to be good and it's often "you get what you pay for". I won't even get into every possible one here. Many time's it's limited to the size availability you want. For example, I'm running a 335 on a 22" rim in the rear. When I looked for replacements, I only found 6 brands carrying that size - 3 of them were brand names and $600+ each, 2 of them were names I have never seen nor could pronounce and were ~$100, I went with the Toyo's at $250 - middle of the line - and been happy with them.

Update: Problem disappeared for more than a month. Then reappeared about 10 days ago. Except this time the blinker stopped working every time - all except 1 time. That 1 time, it worked for the 1st left turn and then didn't work for the 2nd left turn in 1/4 mile.

I went through all the relays, fuses, and Flasher Control Module (that thing's a B@!# to get to). Nope, still left side won't work while right side does.

Then I found the big Turn Signal Question thread that someone else (actually, multiple someone elses) had the same problem. And Sam Owens provided lots of good pointers. So I resigned myself to having to get a resistor inline with everything else.

So last night, I start digging into the wiring. I have the Slingmods Signal Harness so I unplug it and just plug everything back to stock. Check the blinkers and everything works fine. Okay, I think I found the problem. Plug the harness back in just to start the wiring. AND EVERYTHING WORKS FINE AGAIN!

Turned on/off the car several times. All working fine. Drove it to dr. appt today and all fine. WTF?!?
