A rainy day in South Bend didn’t stop local motorcyclists from joining the annual Northern Indiana Ride for Kids on June 26. The event raised more than $46,000 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Brain tumor survivors Adler, Hannah, Jennifer, Karma, Lindy, Miquel and Samantha were honored as Ride for Kids Stars. Several of them accompanied the 150 participants on the ride from Pinhook Park.

After the ride, the crowd heard from the mother of Ride for Kids Star Adler. “While we’ve had a tough road, Adler continues to amaze us and we are so grateful to all of your support and the great work being done by the PBTF,” Elizabeth Carris.

Vincy from WFRN-FM emceed the program, which also honored the late Bobby Newman, a longtime Northern Indiana Ride for Kids volunteer task force leader.

Event proceeds fund childhood brain tumor research and family support programs such as college scholarships.

Donations are still being accepted online at www.rideforkids.org/indiana. Fundraisers will receive incentive credit through July 26.

The next Ride for Kids events are in Marysville, Ohio, on Saturday, July 16, and in St. Paul, Minn., Utica, N.Y., and Lake Geneva, Wis., on Sunday, July 17. Sign up today and ride with us to cure the kids!
