Ramps, Ramps, Ramps baby!!! LOL Thanks for the kind words. Whether you (or anyone) buy from me or not, I enjoy helping any way I can.

PS Race Ramps build a quality product. We used to use then but now design and build our own all aluminum ramps in-house.

Here is one we built, a 16' V-Nose set up as a SlingThing Cave

@chavey2 you might try contacting @Capt SlingThing about customizing one of their trailers for you. I did and almost pulled the trigger, just opted for a different solution. They can Extend and it and add Camper type window's, insulation, cabinets, etc.. for you as well as AC and whatever else you can think of. I would assume it would come in close to the price you're looking at for a toy hauler.
    Just food for thought :whistling:

Thanks for the kind words Jorge I remember talking to you glad you found what worked for you.

I don't really agree on trailering behind another trailer... I know... people do it all the time, but I've been behind, not one, but 2 trailers behind trailers where for whatever reason the rear most trailer (in this case it would be the slingshot) get crazy and something bad happened. In one case, the trailer plain tore off the leading trailer, in the last case, the dune buggy that was in the back trailer broke off and rolled end over end in front of me. I literally stopped freeway traffic so that no one would run into it...so ... NAH... not for me.

I kind of agree double towing can be tricky but the customers we have doing it are happy. I don't know that I would recommend it for the novice tower thought. We even have a couple 14' Caves out there behind 5rs

Our trailers are right at 83.5" between the fenders and the drivers side fender is removable , we do recommend doing that. We have just started making the curb side fender also removable do to some of the custom wheels out there.

Great looking trailer Rick.l saw it when I went to pick up mine from Sling Thing, must say ,they make One Bad Azz trailer.Van from Sling Thing is by far, one of the nicest guys you could work with.I had them do mine with the 6' removable ramps , they upgraded the ramps from 2200lbs. to 4200lbs. so I can store my Mustang on top of the trailer when I'm not using it.(Let's me keep it in the garage).Like Van mentioned, there customer made to your taste.I'll see if I can insert pics.

Thanks Ron, we enjoyed building you your trailer. We pride ourselves in being able to do custom things for our customers and making the trailer their own. We have done many that are used for multiple purposes even though they are primarily designed for the Slingshot, we have set them up to also be motorcycle trailers, car haulers even one for a rock crawler and tractor.

Ron if you get a chance could you email a few pictures of yours in use, I'd like to put it on the website if it is alright with you.

    Capt. Van

Thanks, Rick. It has been our pleasure working with you to bring this new concept of mine to market. The SlingThing
and the SlingCave trailers are very popular but this new rear tailgate/ramp system is going to be a hit.

When Rick first contacted me he was going to order one of our SlingThings with the HotShot package, when we were just about finished with the order he asked me "is there anything else I should know about before putting the order in"? I said well...kind of, I'm working on a new design for the ramp system. While I was up at Maggie Valley I was asked by a few folks and a couple of lady SS owners if I had something other than the ramps as they can be a little heavy as they are made of extruded aluminum and welded together and 6 foot long. That is when I first started the drawings. I told Rick I could send him some rough CAD drawings and a picture of our R&D model. He loved it and was willing to wait until we got it down cold as long as I could have it to him before the Adirondack rally, fortunately we did make the deadline.

As for price, we custom build each one to your specifications so each one is a little different. Please take a look on the website (please be patient I'm new at this web stuff and I'm working on it) and on facebook. Send me your contact info and I'll be glad to talk it over with you. The open 14 foot SlingThing starts at $4195 and is very well equipped at that. Including all aluminum construction, Dexter torsion axle with brakes, 3-6 foot long ramps, choice of storage locations, HD 2-5/16 coupler, custom aluminum wheels and radial tires all LED lighting and HD DOT reflective tapes, etc. We offer a wide selection of options well priced as well as we can do just about anything you can come up with.

I have no vested interest or use of the product. Just wanted to give everyone feedback from my conversation with @Capt SlingThing. Very nice and knowledgeable gentleman. I haven't seen his SlingCave, but I have seen his SlingThing and it looks great. I ended up going in another direction (thanks @Noel Hughes!), but if I hadn't, I would have definitely bought a SlingThing. @Capt SlingThing is great and I look forward to meeting him in person at Maggie Valley!

Thanks Joe, I sure enjoyed talking with you. If it had been any other trailer and any other dealer I would have been bummed, our deal was win win BUT you did end up with a nice trailer, a great deal from the best folks out there. If you need any help with it or questions at all about trailering I'm just a call away. Looking forward to meeting you and your sidekick at the Valley.
    Capt. Van

I will be sporting this up to Maggie Valley

Aluma 18' tilt trailer Probably too much trailer for just the Sling but I can haul cars, my tractors, etc. on it. It's aluminum and pulls like a dream cause it is so light. If you need a multi purpose trailer this is a fantastic unit!

Nice looking trailer, Bill. Could you please give the measurement between the fenders, the website says only 82"? Thanks

Just checked the prices, the 16 is $6300 and 18 is $8400, they do build a nice trailer, our 16 tandem is right around $5000. I think ours is pretty sweet to.

@Capt SlingThing - Are these trailers only manufactured as a single axle? I see the setback configuration of the single axle, and agree that it will eliminate any sway and draw at greater speeds. Just wondering if there is a tandem configuration in the works. You, being the expert, could probably ease my concerns by saying your single axle configuration would suffice for long-distance / articulated travels (long straight aways). Just asking, not prodding.

No, both the SlingThing and the SlingCave are offered in a tandem version however not in 14' there is just not room for a second axle and the belly pan ramp storage. Tandems are offered in 16' and 18' models. I will say I don't move one of my trailers without at least 1 spare.

One question always leads to another and another, that is how the forum works. See you in Maggie.

Ain't that the truth, lol. I will have both the SlingThing and only the 2nd SlingCave there for all to check out, hopefully I'll be able to have it set up so you can load your Slingshot so you can see just how simple it is. I'm always looking for good ideas for improvement, so stop by and let me know what you think. I am a sponsoring vendor, you can't miss me.
    Capt. Van

@Capt SlingThing, what's FOB? Also, do you have any in stock, or are they built to order?

FOB refers to point of shipping, in other words the buyer is responsible to pick up or pay shipping charges to the destination. We don't inventory any trailers we build to suit thus custom built. I do from time to time have a "demo" that i sell, I don't have one right now as I just sold mine to a customer in St Augustine. I will have both SlingThing and a SlingCave at the Maggie Valley event and I think they will be going home with someone else.

PS you can email me at

    slingthingtrailer@gmail.com

I didn't mean for this to turn into an ad for the trailers, just some good ifo for Slingshot folks.

    Capt Van

@Capt SlingThing, thanks for the weights. So when you say the SlingThing 14 starts at $4,195, will $4,195 get you what you need to trailer a Slingshot (i.e. ramps, tie downs, etc)?

Good question Speed, as I mentioned it come ready to go even at the base price.

What's the weight on this and the SlingThing (open)?

The 14' SlingCave is right about 1100 pounds and the 14 SlingThing is just under 875 pounds. We built them with intention that you can pull them comfortably with smaller vehicles. With the Slingshot at 1700# we wanted to stay under the 3200 # threshold.

The SlingCave that is in the video (the prototype) was delivered to OK this passed Saturday and is already out in CA. The owner checks in every day and says it's the best pulling trailer he has ever has and his Slingshot loads like a dream.

    Any mention of projected cost?

SlingThing trailers are all aluminum custom built to order. We build them to your specification and needs. We are very competitively priced for this type of quality. Our base trailers are very well equipped with standard items that others upcharge for. The SlingThing (open) starts at $4195 and the SlingCave (enclosed) starts at $7495.
