The wife had a Mitsubishi Eclipse and, because of it I will never buy another Mitsubishi vehicle. It broke the timing belt before the scheduled replacement and destroyed the motor by pistons impacting valves. I had it rebuilt and it did the same thing 8,000 miles later. I sold it for $600, helped load it on a trailer, and threw rocks at it as it went down the road. 20 years later I'm still pissed!
Any duel overhead cam will do the same thing. Most cars today if you break a timing belt or jump a tooth the motor is trashed.
