HeRSling driving back down Pikes Peak.
Happy Birthday Trooper !!!
we are now in Colorado Springs. Pikes Peak tomorrow or Tuesday.
BTW, pulling two trailers, not pulling on trailers. And HeRSling is riding hers also. She wasn’t going to miss the chance to ride 4000+ miles herself. And she will be driving up Pikes Peak too. Hopefully driving up and driving back down.
Congratulations you two! Hope to get together with y’all again in Maggie next year.
Would love to ride along but we leave for our Epic Adventure Saturday morning. Doing about 4500 miles. Y’all are welcome to come along. We only have three weeks of run though so we will be tray at a brisk pace. Gotta see all we can! My motto has always been we only get a short time for vacation so see everything you can and work won’t seem so hectic afterwards.
DJohnson , I tried three people who were selling parts from them. Two never recontacted me and one wanted $100 plus shipping. Ended up getting it from cheapcycleparts.com for $143 total new.
Happy Birthday Mr. Bill !!!
Blaze ,I just ordered the unit from Cheapcycleparts.com for my wife’s SS. $143.64 after tax. Part number 4017580. On back order for 6 weeks. I have searched for two years for a compatible one. Polaris did a good job of hiding where they get these.
Look at the bright side Bill. The raging waters might suck all the copperheads down stream so you'll have a safe area to play without them
or bring some more down from upstream.
Seriously! 😮 do you have hood locking pins? That’s pretty Ballsy!
Yes I do. My wife prefers I don’t drive that fast but I was a passenger in hers when a Subaru passed her. She passed him and slowed down when I pointed out she was doing over 100. I added the supercharger so the SS would be able to use 5th gear and use it quickly.
There was an 80 year old guy and his wife at the dealership when I picked mine up. Took him for a ride. Opened it up and he loved it. When he got out he told his wife and buddy “That boy can drive!” Then he bought the one he was there to look at. Told me he had to get a supercharger ASAP!
Took my Slingshot home yesterday! Lady hit me in the sprocket June 18th. Boomer hauled her to Ft Smith the next week. I ordered a sprocket and had it shipped to the dealer there. After 3 weeks of waiting till they could get to mine I got to ride her home yesterday!!! Only 79 miles but it felt great to be riding again! Took it easy and only hit 125 a few times. Had to make certain the supercharger was still working right. Now to get her ready for our Epic Adventure next month!
Wife and I looked at a Spyder just before the SS came out. I got on and she said “You just can’t look sexy on one of those!” Now we both have Sling’s.
I was able to get the following info re: Eureka Event in Sep from FB:
Don’t know who Gary Sexton is but I believe he may be in Little Rock. If you have FB you can try looking up either him or Riders For Life. Sorry I don’t have more info folks. I don’t use FB.
Thanks WingShot . I hope the sprocket is all I need but won’t know for sure till they get to work in it.
Someone on FB is planning a Eureka event. I’ll ask Patti to see if she can find out who it was and the dates. We are taking 4 Slings on our Epic Adventure. Leaving here Sep 18 and will be back 2-3 weeks later. Riding to Pikes Peak, Moab, Mt Rushmore. Y’all are welcome to come along.
Dropped the SS off in Ft Smith this morning. I already ordered the sprocket and had it shipped to them. Cheap Cycle Parts only charged $395 for the sprocket but said it will be 7-15 days to get the part. Oh well. At least the dealer will be checking any issues with the bearings, etc. before the sprocket comes in.
Tulsa dealer said 3-4 weeks before they could work on it so a 1+ hour drive to Ft Smith seemed better than 2+ hours to Tulsa.
Jim Farabough hauled it down in his trailer with his new truck. Only problem was the air conditioner quit before we were out of Fayettville. Got a little warm today. Was 91 in Ft Smith.
Cowboy , I haven’t checked with the Tulsa area dealers since they are almost two hours from me. However, if they can get the SS fixed in less than 4 weeks it might be worth the drive. They are closed today so I will call them first thing in the morning. Thanks!
Just to let people know what’s going on with my SS right now. A lady ran into my belt sprocket last Thursday. She told the officer taking the report that “In AR it’s legal to turn left on red after stop!” He said “Yes it is, as long as someone isn’t in the intersection.”
My local dealer no longer sells or works on Slings so I have to take it 90 miles away to a dealer in Ft. Smith for repairs. They have a 4 week wait list. Taking it down Tuesday so I hope to have it back by the end of July. The ins co has rented me a car until the work is done. At least everything will be working right for our Epic Adventure in September.
Trooper , will probably be getting together soon but someone is planning a September event in Eureka. Not sure who. Patti saw it on FB. Some of us are going on our Epic Adventure from 9/16 - 10/10. About 4500 miles. Y’all are welcome to come. It will be a lot of fun.
Happy Birthday FunCycle !!!
