Hi SoCal !!
Thanks for the well wishes! We're doing good and just taking life as it comes at us these days! 2020 sure took it's toll, but everyone's in the same boat, so we're not alone!! I check in to this forum at least once every day. You might say it's my fix!! I don't have much to add in the way of interesting updates and insightful information, but Damn do I love reading what you all are doing to your Slings, and posting your experiences!!! For now we're marking our calendar and counting down to the first day we'll be able to crack our Sling out and burn some more rubber off the back tire!!!!!
Thanks and hope you're doing well also!!
Dang it!! Late to the party, but it's BEER O'CLOCK somewhere right now....so HAPPY late Birthday my friend!!! I hope it was the best one yet and you have many, many more!!!!!
Sorry he was taken from those who loved him the most. He is definitely in a better place now. Godspeed!!!
His family and friends will have a lifetime of happy memories, and that is the best wish to grant anyone on this earth!!!!
This may be the end of one adventure for you, but the beginning of your next adventure awaits you!!!
God Bless, and God-speed UK_Paul
Yep....I had the button fall out of mine back in October 2017. I had to order the complete stalk/switch assembly. The install was pretty straight forward though.
Here's what I posted in the forum back then:
I reviewed the service manual to see what all was involved with changing it out before I started. If I had went by the manual, it would have been quite a bit of work......removing the steering wheel, steering wheel hub, clock spring, and both steering column cover halves. That was just to get to the turn signal assembly!! Then of course, doing the process of removing and replacing the assembly.
I really felt like there might be a better way, so I simply removed the bolts holding the column covers together and took a look. JEESH!!!! There was nothing to it!! I didn't even need to remove the column cover halves. I only needed to remove the two bolts holding the assembly to the column, and zip tie holding the wire loom to the brace. Disconnected the harness, connected the new harness and installed the assembly back in. Less than 30 minutes to complete the task. It would have been less, but the idiots that installed the assembly at the factory rounded out the hex in both bolts. I'm too anal to re-use less than perfect bolts, so I had to find a couple new ones in my tool box.
If I had followed the service manual to the T, I would have been at it for at least an hour!!
Hope this helps you!!!!
Congrats on the brand new beautiful home!! It's so good to see Barbie!!!!
One of your first tasks as soon as you have time.......get that wheelchair blinged out to her standards!!! Making her rdie in a stock wheel chair is just not going to cut it Mister!!!!!!
Dorene and I wish you both the best as you start your new adventure in this new home!!!!!
So sorry to hear of Rob's passing!!! God Speed Brother!!!!
Dorene and I were honored to have met Rob and Luann, and will always cherish the memories. It never seems to be a good thing to hear of a man down, but we believe he has moved on to a better place now, and we'll meet again someday. He will surely be missed down here though.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to Luann and all of their friends and family.
Display MoreAs many of you know Larry ( TRIPOD ) lost his father 2 weeks ago. His father lived in Newport News, VA. Larry flew into Norfolk from New Mexico last Saturday afternoon. I picked Larry up at the airport and drove him over to Newport News so he could begin the not so fun task of cleaning out his dads house and getting all the other items completed that must be done.
We had a great conversation about SlingShots, and the party for his daughter at Jared and Heathers house.
Larry told me the battery was dead in his dads car, so I picked up a battery and we installed it and aired up all the tires. The car fired right up so Larry did have something to drive while he was in town.
It was great to see him again after 2 1/2 years. Larry will be flying back home Tuesday morning. It is never easy to loose a loved one, but with everything going on today with Covid 19 everything must be much more difficult.
So sorry for @Tripod.....Larry's loss. Our prayers and thoughts go out to Larry, friends and family. I never had the honor of meeting Larry, but we did talk over the phone when he graciously offered to help me with my security system install a few years ago. My wife and I offer our sincere condolences.
Thanks av8ingtom for the letting us know about the loss.
Happy Birthday FunCycle !!! Sure hope you have a really great one today!!!!
Dorene & I are hoping to meet up with you again this fall if all of this crazy bullshit has ended!!!
Thanks so much for updating us Dieter!!!! We are all very glad to hear that she is doing better. Please let her know that we have her in our hearts and prayers!!!
Dieter, Dorene, and I will have your lovely Barbie in out thoughts and prayers!!! We had the honor of meeting her at the Booze & Blues event, and loved every minute of our time with her and you!!
Our very best to you both!!!
Dammit!! And I already set up a date to meet Katrina, thinking I was special!! When she said she had a tight ass and tits.....well.....Ok.....I'm weak. Now that I think about it....I forgot to ask if she also had beans and a frank in the front.........never mind...I'll cancel our date.........
Happy Birthday Mitch!!! Stay healthy and hope to see you sometime this year!!!!
I've had the tow dolly for a couple years and used it to take our Sling to the Slingshots Uncorked and Mayhem in the Mountains events. Worked flawlessly. Mine has 14" wheels and no fenders. I did have the trailer tire rub the side of my Sling one time, even with the chains adjusted properly. It happened due to a combination of a rather tight turn onto a pretty steep off-angled apron entrance from the road. I was actually expecting the rub to have been worse, but the chains must have done the best they could in the situation. Under normal conditions, I've had zero issues. We love our dolly and no complaints!!!
Rattle can Hi-Temp Engine spray is the best and cheapest way to go as far as I'm concerned. I have done this to every vehicle I've purchased over the years, as the sight of rusty, bare metal brake calipers triggers my OCD. Pretty easy to do. You don't even have to remove the calipers if you don't want to. Just use newspapers and blue painters tape to tape off, and cover areas you don't want painted. Then use some paint thinner afterwards to clean up any over-spray. I apply a couple coats of silver Hi-Temp spray first, then a couple coats of the red. Of course you can use any color you like. I also did the same to the metal brake and emergency brake hardware on the back side of the caliper using Hi-Temp black. I did this to my Sling when I got it home new in 2015, and the calipers and hardware still look like they were just painted to this day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ConnMan!!!
