Not sure how a prepaid maintenance plan would get you a new engine. I would think that is a warranty item not a maintenance situation, and even an extended warranty on a 2016 would be expired.

The service guy did say something about a warranty that might cover the engine. I am going to ask about it when they open back up on Tuesday.

I just found out that the engine has been replaced but the check engine light is on. They are going to take it to another dealer to find out what it's going to take to fix it. Also the brakes and clutch need to be flushed and the angle drive is leaking. After I asked about my prepaid maintenance I find out that the engine could possibly have been covered. That means I could have got a brand new engine from Polaris for free instead of paying for a used engine from eBay. Just my luck that I find that out now.

I got a call from the dispatcher and he said I needed to send $275 to the driver. I told him I have PayPal but the driver only uses Zelle or CashApp. I proceeded to load Zelle on my phone and get it set up. Meanwhile, the driver is upset because he says I'm wasting his time and he wants $300 instead of the $275 listed on the contract and if he doesn't get it soon, he won't unload my Slingshot. My credit union doesn't work with Zelle and I couldn't get it to send the money. Then I installed CashApp and while I'm getting it set up, the driver says he wants an extra $50 for his time. Once I got set up with CashApp, I was able to send the $275 and was told everything was cool. That whole ordeal was getting stressful.

So now my Slingshot is at the dealership where they're about a week behind and I'll be waiting for a call when it's ready.

Tomorrow my Sling should be delivered to the dealer for the engine swap. The price keeps going up, it started at $175, then $200 which was still OK. Now it's up to $400 because the drivers want an extra $100 each. Since I can't load it by myself and no one to help, I'm stuck paying the extra. I don't know when they'll be able to get to it at the dealership because they've had a mechanic out for 2 weeks and they're way behind on repairs. I'm hoping they don't raise the price of the swap too much but I do expect it to go up some due to unforeseen things.

As many of you already know myself and another Sling brother had a wreck just before rally due to a complete idiot stopped in a blind curve loading a motorcycle. With my cat like reflexes (😂) I stopped a foot from the parked car. My buddy couldn’t stop hitting me from behind pushing me into the parked car. You would think that my buddy’s insurance company would immediately determine their insured’s policy would repair your vehicle to pre accident condition. BUT - my buddy was insured by State Farm. I knew I was going to have a fight on my hands from a Hurricane Laura claim when State Farm insured me. Fortunately I was able to find a guy that can make the repairs to my flame paint (wrap) - whatever😂. First thing here - to this day NO ONE from State Farm has ever went to the body shop where it has been since the day after the accident to this day. After about 3 weeks of stalling - allegedly waiting on an accident report I get a check for around $6500 which is still in my desk drawer. My paint & body guy sent in a supplement which amounted to around $14,500 for all repairs. State Farm then tells me they are going to total my Sling and give my $19k and I surrender the title. I guess you can just imagine my displeasure at this offer. Since I had lot a lot of paperwork during the hurricane I had to chase down my retired painter and get invoices from him and Dave DDM (thanks Dave) to go back years to get me invoices. I finally got all my paperwork sent into State Farm Monday. Waited 48 hours with no response and called. I got thru to a bean counter and bounced around different departments until I got the head bean counter. I sent in invoices totaling over $30k. The bean counter then said “with depreciation we are adding about $8k to the value. I stopped him “Whoa Whoa Who - I don’t give 2 shits about your accounting procedures - either you tell me right now or I’m headed to the courthouse to file this suit I have in my hand - at this point I can go either way”. He replied “we will pay for repairs to your vehicle”. I won my fight but my buddy did not insure all his extra goodies and they are going to total his. I tell this long story to make everyone here to check your insurance policy and make sure you are adequately covered. And for God Sakes - don’t use State Farm insurance - they are SHIT!!

PS I paid State Farm premiums for 35 years until I had a big claim and saw how they will screw you at every turn…you have been warned !!

I just recently dropped State Farm for my auto insurance and went with Progressive. They got too expensive for me to continue with them. I had auto insurance with them for about 40 years.

I finally got the email that my engine has been shipped and will be delivered this Friday (8/4). If everything goes as originally planned, it will be next Wednesday (8/9) before I can get my Slingshot to the dealer.

My engine should be shipped tomorrow to Ride Now Powersports Fort Worth...the place where I bought my Slingshot. When I find out when it's supposed to be delivered, I'll take my Sling there so they can swap engines. I called the dealer in Fourney and I was quoted a price of nearly $1500 to do the engine swap then I call the one in Ft. Worth and was quoted $800...so they get to do it. I figure by week after next, I'll be back driving my Slingshot. YEA!!!

....do i need a security clearance to see this video because nothing shows.........also i believe we should all KEEP HOPE ALIVE.....one day your sling will be on the road, just not sure a ebay engine was the answer to your dilemma but in our search for happiness there will always be bumps in the road......than again this could solve your issue.......

You should be able to watch the video. If anybody else has a problem with it, I'll upload it to youtube. I'm hoping that the used eBay engine will solve my problem for now and get me back on the road soon.

I charged the battery this afternoon and when the charger showed the battery at 100%, I tried to get it to start. The engine wouldn't turn so I'm guessing it's locked up. I found a used 2017 engine with 6800 miles on it on eBay and bought it. Now all I have to do is find someone to swap them out for a reasonable price. The asking price was $2699.95, I offered $2500 and they took it. The valve cover is cracked but mine will replace it.

I was going to post a video so you could hear how bad it sounds but I didn't have my phone ready (forgot to hit the record button) and it wouldn't start after that. Either the engine is locked up or the battery is too low to turn it over now. I think the battery is to low.
