Sorry; haven't been following the thread. I just sent my order to @Ross.

    Interested! 8o

And send mine to @Painter first... Need it to match... ;)

Don't forget to ask that other guy if it's ok to use that pretty green color on a toy SS. If you don't he might try blocking you on other social media sites. ;)

Polaris is really working it to keep them out of the States. Amazon would sell them in a heartbeat. This is why companies get design patents. Toy market is huge.

Just a lot harder to control it outside of the USA and EU.

Obviously this is not licensed by Polaris or it would have the Slingshot name on it, instead of Storm S. A pretty good indication of why it's not available in North America.

Thanks but I think my situation is different because mine is considered used...technically the second owner.....the system kicked it out by the vin number...it comes up as 2015 so anyway they slice it ...it’s 3 years old...translates into SS.O.L...

Maybe not. There are companies that provide service contracts on used vehicles. As @FixMyToysZach suggested, give his team a call. It can't hurt and doesn't cost you anything. The service contracts are not really an extended factory warranty but an insurance policy against failure, similar to accident insurance. Just like any insurance policy, be sure to read the fine print to avoid potentially disappointing surprises.

It was neat to be able to get on the field at Grissom AFB and be able to park our Slingshot around and under the great old planes for pictures. We are putting that ride on the books for the 2018 riding season...

Have you submitted any of those photos for the proposed calendar? Seems like they would be a shoe-in.

I got the same green... Dodge Viper Snakeskin Green... At one point he got a bit upset and actually blocked me on Instagram because he accused me of copying him... :S
I'll admit, I got a bit childish in the disagreement...

A Slingshot owner acting childish? Preposterous!

So, not to stoke the fire... ok, maybe a little... but did he put his name on that color to let everyone know it was his? I could understand some chagrin if you copied somebody's custom artwork, but a color? Talk about being childish. And blocking you on his Instagram? Oooooooo; I'm surprised he didn't tell you to meet him on the playground at 3 o'clock to settle things 'mano a mano'.

    Hi Zac,
I have a 2015 that I bought in May of this year...with 720 miles on it.....it’s never been titled so I’m the first owner..my dealer said it was used and they told me they would honor my warranty...which so far they have done but this last visit they called it a “courtesy” warranty and it sounded like that might be ending here shortly....they did not give a timetable but six months just ended...

I asked if I could purchase an extended warranty a few months ago and they said I had to do it the day I bought it....

So is my SS considered new or used?
    Thanks...

Your SS would probably be considered 'used' since the warranty was not purchased within 30 days of your purchase. Also, despite being the first 'titling' owner, the vehicle being 2+ yrs old and having some demo miles on it may also put it in the 'used' category. At this point, you could probably still get a 3rd party service contract which usually carries a $50 deductable, per incident. Check with your dealer and your insurance carrier to see if they recommend anyone, or go online. Also, as noted previously, FixMyToys.com might be able to offer a plan or recommend someone who does.

Regarding the courtesy warranty service from your dealer, wether they ate the cost or went to bat with the factory to extend coverage, they deserve props for making it happen.

As for weekend plans, I'm currently laying in a hotel bed in Beaver Falls, PA, about to get up and continue my solo journey from Baltimore/DC to the town of La Porte, IN (pop. 21,732). Heading out there to lend support to some fellow SS riders that have volunteered to help escort Santa Clause in the town's Holiday kick-off parade which is going on tomorrow.

On the way back to MD, I plan on making a side trip to the bustling town of Brohard, WV (pop. Unknown, but the Post Office pulled stakes in '02 and the nearest Gas Station is 10+ miles away). My dad had a farm out there for a few years when I was a kid. Spent some summers out there, with mostly fond memories, and have always wanted to see the old place again. For the first time in 40 yrs., I'll actually be in that neck of the woods (sort of) and not sure when/if I'll have a similar opportunity, so decided to make the trek.

Anyway, daylights a wastin', as the cow-pokes say, and the temps have crept back up into the 30s, so I better get moving. I'm driving the SS, not trailering it, because I'm either that much of a badass or I'm off my rocker, depending on who you ask. I'm too modest to claim the former and not ready to embrace the latter. 8)

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

Interesting. Anyone have that as an issue? If it's ABS and similar to the body panels, I wouldn't have thought this to be an issue.

Depends on the quality of pre-paint prep a and top coats. Plus, there's probably more wind induced flexing than the in body panels. Add in stone rash and that top probably takes more of a beating than the body panels would.

I can't believe I didn't get any smart ass comments about the sling (1748lbs) towing a 1300+ lb boat. The boat is made by Mystic next door to where I work. Just thought it would make a good picture.

I was going to say, "You must have a Wycked Hitch!" because that is the only one out there that could handle it. Yes, you read that right, the Wycked Hitch could probably handle it, if you're crazy enough to try. I'm pretty sure it's rated for 1200 lbs, when using the gooseneck tongue adapter. There are videos of an SS pulling another SS on a trailer and I know @RichArlt (creator) uses his to tow, launch, and retrieve his wave runners. He also spent a few weeks on the road, up and down the west coast, pulling a good sized custom trailer with new hitches, accessories, and tools, doing on-site installs at various events. If the boat weighs less than a SS, you would be well over the "rated" limit, but it is not outside the realms of possibility or belief. :)

Yes, I have a Wycked Hitch. No, I don't get paid for endorsements. Yes, it is that awesome.

Yes, MD is odd, but the rioting in Baltimore obviously doesn't represent the state very well. On the bright side, we don't have to worry about the KKK trying to rally a march anywhere nearby. ;)

Honestly, most folks are ok, even in the rough parts of town. I stopped at a 7-11 once off of Northern Pkwy. and didn't have any problems. I stood out like a turd in a punch bowl and not just because I was driving the SS. An older woman stopped me as I was leaving the store and very politely told me I should be careful and watch my back, especially with the SS. I thanked her for her concern and chatted with the lookie-loos and everyone seemed pretty relaxed. I even walked up to the grocery store with a guy who was down on his luck and bought him a couple bags of food. Nobody bothered me or the SS and I left with friendly waves. Granted, that was midday. After sundown is a different story.

As for State politics, I view them the same as National politics; a necessary evil. They don't always make sense and everyone is full of crap so I pretty much ignore it all. Life's a lot less stressful that way.

It never does it from my "smart phone" nor my tablet. I notice this app is best used from a computer or I'm just stupid about electronics. I don't even see a place for me to edit my profile.

I'm all about functionality and a lot of the mods out there are quite functional but let's face it, even a lot of the functional stuff is desired more for its sensory appeal (look, sound, feel) and/or bragging rights (performance mods) than it's functionality. Wheels, exhaust, seats, steering wheels, shifters, turbos, intakes, tubing, covers (for just about any component, nut, or bolt), The one thing you can say about SS owners is that WE ARE a vain bunch. If you weren't, you wouldn't have desired such a head-turner in the first place. Hell, as a group, we swap out or add so much stuff to our Slingshots that we make the two-wheeled chrome-crazed thunder-blasting bikers seem conservative in comparison. ^^

@Gadgeteer do you mean , put something fake on a slingshot? I have never heard of this before. But just to let you know I do have the fast red one so really wouldn’t matter, right? Thanks for your help earlier in the catastrophic tread. Hope to meet you sometime in our travels. Just sayin!

No, of course not fake, but... uh... cosmetic(?)... Yeah, cosmetic! That's the word I was looking for! Yeah, a cosmetic side pipe...to fill the hole. Get a piece of 2" PVC, paint it silver, and mount that baby! It'll be grand! Oo, oo, even better... cover the PVC with heat wrap for that true "custom" look!

Pretty much any quality suspension mods are going to be superior to stock, but @'Jdin''s point is that the stock components are very sturdy and can take a beating on the track. Since the original concern from @'essixx' questioned the durability of the stock components, the answer is that they can probably handle whatever you can dish out. They may not be as cushy or responsive as the aftermarket options, but they aren't going to fall apart if you push them hard.

Well I broke down and ordered the 1320 performance exhaust v-2 Should be here Monday. Have too much good riding weather now. Nothing bad towards alpha or slingmods, it is what it is. I just lost that’s all. I am moving on just hope it last longer than a year.

Keep the Alpha on a shelf for a while, if you can, just in case things come around and they step up with a solution.
