Tim sorry to hear that you are have so much trouble.... Things will get better.

Thanks EJ for your kind words. No worries. I just got the same bad seed a few others did. I still think the Slingshot is a ton of fun. I'm sure it can be fixed but we all have limits and I am just not interested in continuing to tow it until the problem is resolved. I want to trade it while it still has plenty of value.

Slingshot didn't even get a tank of gas through it and it kicked the code again.:cursing::cursing:

Towed it for the third time. Left it at the dealer and they can worry about it.

After much thought, too much actually, we have decided to get rid of our Slingshot. It is currently kicking the code 65620. I have posted a thread on it. The book on it is $23900. The trade in value is $16900, It is a 2018 SLR LE Lime Squeeze in color. A few add ons. Bullet speed top, hawk brake pads and some cosmetic add ons. Completely unmolested performance wise and not a scratch on it. Only time it has been outside overnight is when we were at a motel traveling. My dealer is only willing to pay $18000 for it and I think that is a little low. It has 16000 miles on it. It has the extended warranty for another 3 years. I will find out if that is transferable this week. I am willing to eat $2400 for the code it is kicking. I will trade for something that is $21500 in value. I think this is a fair value, it is kicking a code but is under warranty. If I have a Slingshot brother or sister that has a low mileage Honda Goldwing with a bustech trailer, that would be ideal. A Boss Hoss trike would be ideal as well. I'm not interested in Harley's. I want something reliable. We would like to travel and not worry about breaking down. I have cash in hand and have no problem trading up, even way up for the right item. I am extremely partial to Roadrunners as long as it is pre 1975. No projects. I am no mechanic by any means. Like I said I have no problem trading up and bringing cash to the table, just no projects. If you are interested or know anyone who is, please pm me. Please don't reply to this thread. I will take $21500 in cash but really don't want to. I would rather have something reliable that we can enjoy. Dead presidents just collect dust in the safe.

Peanut butter and jelly go together. Milk and cereal. Chips and dip. You folks kinda get the idea. Well let's just let the picture speak for itself.

My baby and I had some much deserved alone time today. It was a great day. Some two wheelers had to let me by on the mountain, I was on a mission.

Oh oh yea. I have waited a month to do this and today was the day. I just got back from riding for hours and not really going anywhere. Those of you that know me know this was way over due.Somebody has got to teach me how to turn these pictures around..

I wanted to say Thank you to Goats_Hogs and ThomSS for introducing me to the world of slingshots. If these two gentlemen represent the community that I’m eager to step into then making the decision to buy one is so much easier .Thank you again guys for the great conversation and the ride.

These two you men Goats_Hogs and ThomSS are exactly what this entire community represents. \Welcome to the forum. Tons and tons and tons of knowledge here.

    Tim

Watching the weather - not very promising at the moment - will make the final call Tuesday

I hate driving in the rain - spoils all the fun.

I do not have many vacation days - so I would rather reschedule than waist e them

I totally agree. We'll figure it out. I hope we get a break but I did look at it. You are correct. These mountains have been crazy the last three weeks weather wise. I'm so ready to ride, I'd consider going where the weather in nice next weekend. Where ever that may be :S:S

Update: Dealer replaced ECM for the first time then drove Slingshot for 45 miles and could not duplicate problem 65620. I will be in Maggie Valley with it next week and I will drive it till the wheels come off or it kicks the code again!!!!!!

I’m not a doom and gloom guy but it’s hard to be optimistic when others that have had this problem say this is not the final fix to solve the problem. My dealer has done their job and done exactly what Polaris instructed them to do in a timely fashion.I am out of town and can’t pick up Slingshot till Monday.

Ghost A few of us are heading to Maggie July 8 - 12

Not sure if you have any free time but I figured I would reach out to you just in case you were board with staying home and being safe

I'll be over a day or two. I will be slower than usual but it's because I'm missing a wheel.;)

123hotdog since you know the next step after trying the ECU is trying a 2nd ECU, is there any chance you could convince them to send out two the first time? I'm feeling your pain!

I just tried in an email to Polaris 30 seconds ago. :| They will not send extra parts at all. If so, they could just send the wiring harness and be done. I do understand it from Polaris's point of view. I do the same thing repairing equipment in my business. I start with the cheapest part and work my way up the ladder until the problem is fixed. I can't imagine what the shop labor would be to replace an entire harness. It could be allot worse, I could be having to foot the bill for it had I not selected the extended warranty. I am taking the high rode and staying out of the dealer and communicating by email with Polaris and my dealer. It will all work out in the end but unfortunately this is a painful process I must endure. We are staying super busy during this time. It helps.

I sincerely hate that you are having to go through this but at least you know what the game is and what to expect. Keep your chin up, we'll get some ridding in this fall!

Thank you. Absolutely we will get some riding in this fall. I am happy that my dealer tested it and didn't just hand it back to me and say, " here you go, now go break down and tow it in and we'll try again."

Well well well. Cam sensors from Polaris did not solve problem. What a surprise, and to think, I only had to wait three weeks to find this out. They are now sending out ECU #1. Just as predicted as I have now spoken with multiple people that have had the exact same issue. After this ECU doesn't fix problem, Polaris will send out another ECU just to make sure. Once that is determined to not solve the problem, then and only then will they start sending out the harness which comes in three pieces. I'm sure Polaris will send one piece a week. Just as I was told from others that have had this issue, I will be down a total of 8 to 10 weeks. :/

Update: As of yesterday I now have a direct line to Polaris via email and telephone with the proper extension to get a human. Polaris is saying all the right things and now that my dealer is aware that I have contact with Polaris directly, it just seems that things are moving a little faster. :/ Polaris is having them install new cam sensors and wiggle the harness and try to get it to kick the code to determine where the short is. Dealer says they will have this completed this week. Of course we all know what this really means and what others that I have spoke with that have had this issue have said. I need a new h-a-r-n-e-s-s!!!!!!!!! It'll get there eventually. Thank God for the extended warranty. And to think, I only got it because I was concerned about the angle drive being something new to me.

Good choice 123hotdog . I know when I went in with a leaky angle drive still under warranty, it took WAY longer than I would have liked to get my Sling back from the dealer. I had a trip to Canada coming up and was getting pretty anxious. Ultimately, Polaris replaced the entire drive in time for my trip. I know the dealer was doing their part but when Polaris delays their response and decision, everyone gets frustrated. I believe that Polaris ultimately stands behind their products, but due to their constant rush to market they seem to always have their hands full in the warranty department.

I sure hope they get you on the road soon. Time's a wastin'!

Very wise words. Thank you. Spent my Turbo money on a motorcycle. If all goes well maybe Dave@DDMWorks will buy the motorcycle after this is all over and I will get my Turbo? ;) I actually hope to take good care of motorcycle and sell it when done.
