I can't wait. I'd take the week off and come right now (I did last year) but I've spent my turbo money and I've gotta make it up somewhere. Glad to hear there is vacancies. We might decide to stay a couple of days instead of commuting.

Put 600 miles on it with the noise going on. Yesterday it even got a little intermittent. I'm sure its nothing serious, at least that is what I keep telling myself. Hope to get a few experienced ears in Maggie. I'm sure with the talent over there it will get resolved. Once again and I say this all the time. I have been so lucky to stumble on this forum.

Tim, hope to meet you at MV and I'll gladly take a listen and try to help diagnose. Failing that, we go pay a visit to the tent of Mr. DDM and get his input.

Will definitely take you up on that. If the rain will hold off during the day here this week I will be over starting on Thursday morning at 7am. I might commute over each day or stay. Not sure yet. Will prob stay Friday night for sure.

I touched every single bolt out back. Nothing loose. I checked the torque on all three wheels. None loose either. My belt has always made noise. Pour one bottle of water on it and it stops. Gonna run it. Might be able to put somebody in it next week at Maggie that knows allot more than me.

Long post. Gonna be very specific. Before I forget, thank you to all that read and respond. Last trip out I noticed a clanging noise coming from the rear wheel. I am absolutely certain that it is coming from the back. Now that we have gone through the parts I'm certain of, now I will give the best detailed description I can.

I have a clunking noise coming from the rear wheel that sounds like a brake pad flapping. (I'm absolutely no mechanic)

When I'm on the gas, it doesn't do it. The second I touch the brake pedal it quits.

Here is the odd part, it only does it while coasting (not on brake or gas) and when I turn to the right. When I turn to the left it quits even when coasting.

I'm going down in shop this morning and going to check and tighten every bolt back there including checking lug nuts. Don't think its a loose wheel. I'm not a Nascar driver but I've had one of those before.

It is a loud noise that concerns me. It's not hard enough to feel it in the drive but I know it needs to be addressed. I don't see any signs of metal shavings anywhere at all.

I put Hawk 5.0 pads on 11,000 miles ago. I have NEVER EVER went down the road one time with the E-brake on ever (at least not in my Sling anyway)

Sorry for writing a book but there is nothing worse than trying to help somebody and not having all the facts.

It is under the extended warranty and I could just take it in but I've been without the old girl for 8 long weeks already this summer and I don't know if you guys know this but when I was a kid and my toy broke I cried so damn much everybody including the neighbors left the house. Now I'm way to big to get my ass busted (which is what shoulda happened then) but I never outgrew that and I still cry like a baby when my toy breaks.;(;(;(;(;(;(;(

Update: On my second tank of fuel with no issues. Feeling good about that. Will put a few hundred on it this weekend I'm sure it appears that it was the wiring harness just as others had reported. This forum is just perfect for these type issues. Knowledge is power.

On a side note. Thank God it didn't come to this.

Well. I don't know what happened and refuse to find out.

This forum has some of the greatest people I have ever met (and some I'm going to meet) on it in my adult life.

Even when I was in the driveway in my F250 racing the motor and ready to throw it in reverse and back over my Sling to collect the insurance, (ya it happened) Denise said; "what the hell are you gonna drive next time everybody comes here?" All I thought about how much fun I have had and what great people we have on this forum and how lucky I am to be a part of it.

To the poster that left the forum: I was a newbie once and confused and bought my Sling on a whim.

Buying the Sling wasn't the fun. It IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE PEOPLE.

If anybody knows the poster that left, give them my phone number if ya know it or PM me and get it.

This is a great bunch of people and sounds like a misunderstanding.

A wise man once said: "It's okay to have more than one toy and it is a mistake to get rid of the Sling"

That wise man was right. He knows who he is. Thanks.

Tim are you going to be in Maggie Valley next week?

To the place where it all started? ABSOLUTELY!!!!!! I wouldn't have it any other way. It is raining like crazy and I am super busy. I can be done by Wednesday afternoon if all goes well next week. I will be over every day that I can as long as somebody is over there to ride with. I will be at the breakfast table each morning and will stay till dark.

I would like to thank all my Slingshot brothers and sisters who were in these videos and especially Tim and Shirl for shooting them because after this email went to Polaris, they skipped all the steps in the middle and shipped the harness. Of course then I was told by my dealer that I would have to wait another week for them to start on it because the tech working on it would be on vacation all the following week. Now that was just funny at that point and I could do was laugh. Fast forward. Put 300 miles on it this weekend and no codes. After being down 8 weeks I am up and running.

Update: This is the email I sent Polaris on 7/12/2020 after I towed my Sling for the third time.

I would like to set up a conference call with someone at Polaris and the General Manager of the Friendship Motorsports as well as myself. I have towed my Slingshot for the third time in six weeks for the same problem. I want to make sure Polaris and my dealer are on the same page. I have received the email from Polaris saying they are doing the best they can from afar and I have been told at my dealer that they can only replace the parts Polaris allows. I took it from my dealer this week and didn't even get 300 miles on it and had the same problem. To you Polaris, I have collected much information from people all across the country in regards to this issue (the code 65620). They all say the same thing. Polaris sent cam sensors, Polaris sent an ECM, Polaris sent another ECM, Polaris finally sent the wiring harness and that fixed the problem. This was only after they were down 8 to 10 weeks with multiple breakdowns. Polaris you have access to much much more data than I do. Send the parts and fix the Slingshot. I am not bitter or upset. I do not need to be coddled, what I do need is results. I bought a machine and paid over $30k for it and didn't manage to get 16 thousand miles out of it. Not much return on my investment at all. I have went so so far above and beyond to promote the Slingshot brand. I have sent a few links to verify my support of the Slingshot brand. It'll be kinda hard to have a Slingshot Rally this year with my Slingshot on a trailer. I am not looking for any special treatment as I have NEVER asked Polaris for one dime for any of my events and have continued to promote the brand out of my pocket. I just want what everybody else wants that buys a Slingshot. I just wanna enjoy it.

Dude..........You all made me keep my sling and I don't regret it!

Tim you are going to have to suck it up and stay in the family _ I hate divorces

Where you gonna find a better bunch of lunatics.

I will always and I mean ALWAYS be a part of this family no matter how many wheels I have. This community is the reason I didn't let the dealer have it for $18k

Don't want you to feel like we are hating on you but I agree with everyone else. Don't sell the sling! We love having y'all and people like y'all in our circle. I can't imagine you having as much fun on anything as you seem to on the sling. We bought our 2018 SLR LE Nov, 11th of 17. Since then we have not ridden our motorcycles at all. I eventually sold my ZX14 and heck Shirl even priced her GoldWing the other day. It and the rest of them just sit and collect dust. I haven't even raced my drag bike the last two seasons. If we get an evening or a weekend that we aren't doing something we are jumping in the SS and having fun somewhere. Regardless if you sell it or not y'all will always be a part of our family and are welcome to join us anywhere any time!

Thank you for your kind words my friend.

There is a thread on it in this forum. I have asked for a conference call with Polaris and the General Manager of Friendship Motorsports. I'm sure it will get fixed eventually. I was just hoping somebody had a nice Goldwing they weren't riding that they trade to pick up an extra Sling.
